New NP looking for first job
This was my suspicion since the recruiter who conducted the first interview is not a clinician. With regards to combining school and work, I did work full time for the most part of the program. Toward the end I cut my hours down to 30 by using PTO. Good luck!

New NP looking for first job
Good morning everyone! I'd like your feedback from your previous experience looking for employment as a Nurse Practitioner. I m a new AGNP and I just started looking for employment 3 weeks ago. I interacted with recruiters. I got one phone interview that lasted about 35 minutes. I think it went well. Just wondering what to expect for next interview? Do the questions tend to be more clinical in nature? Or are they general, behavioral type questions like the first interview? Your opinion would be appreciated.

Job search tips for new grad NPs
Thank you FullGlass for sharing your experience. Like you I am a middle-aged man but I have been in nursing for 20 years mostly in hospice/palliative care and home health. I started applying November 29. Since then I have been contacted by a couple of recruiters who expressed interest in scheduling a phone interview with me. But I will follow your footsteps opening the horizon quite a bit more. Hopefully that will produce more fruits.

The Value of Mentors
Thank you for sharing your journey with us on this platform while highlighting the value of mentorship. As you stated, mentorship makes a huge difference in one's development especially during role transition. As a brand new nurse practitioner, I can testify about this. In fact, I have found myself reaching out to other NPs with the hope of getting some insight and learning from them. Your experience is special as you were able to combine your previous business background with your nursing background to get you where you are right now while cultivating your love of writing.

First NP Job, misled and unhappy
If you are so exhausted, unhappy and feel that you are working in a setting that you were not trained for, you would do yourself a service by leaving now. I'd suggest that you keep it professional and explain that this isn't a good match. It seems that you have options at this time. I am a new grad as well. But I am looking for a good match. Best wishes!
