  1. @JP0927 Glad you were able to make a decision! My thought was going to be some schools will take their grade cutoff seriously just to make it easier to weed out people. It might help you in the long run to retake the classes anyway, but it's about how you want to prioritize (time/money vs school preference). Good luck though! I'm sure you'll do much better now :)
  2. @schrisphonte Congrats!! Are you going to be accepting the offer?? I made a FB group for our cohort as well! It's called CNR Second Degree Nursing Spring 2018. Which campus will you be at?
  3. @jjourdain Nice! have you filed the FAFSA? It's a free application for federal student aid and you can potentially receive federal grants/scholarships or loans, though I know the latter isn't ideal. I heard it's rare to get scholarships for second degree students, but it doesn't hurt to try. Also try contacting CNR about scholarships and grants they have as well. I am probably taking out loans, but I see it as an investment into my education and career that I'm serious about so I know I'm going to make it back when I start working. Sallie Mae is a great student loan service that offers very low interest rates, if you're interested. Hope that helps! @Katja101 Welcome!! and Congrats on your acceptance :) !! The program is 5 semesters long which translates to 18-months, based on what I was told. So January 2018 - August 2019. @JP02927 Good luck!! Hope you get in!! :) Not sure about when summer applicants hear back, but it should be beneficial to you since you applied so early! Best of luck!
  4. Hi @jjourdain!! Congrats on your acceptance!! We'll be classmates ^_^ I'm not sure what the specific weekly schedule is, but from what I've been told, we're pretty much in class or clinical everyday from 8-5ish (M-F). I got a copy of the breakdown of which classes we'll be taking each semester so I'll post that in the FB group later today. You can search for the group per my previous message above and I'll add you!
  5. @Charlie123 That's great! Congrats!! I just sent in my deposit today. Which campus will you be at? Also, I created a FB group (for both cohorts) in case anyone is interested in joining. Just search CNR second degree nursing spring 2018 :)
  6. @kikikegz Gotcha. I'm glad they were re-accredited by the CCNE haha and that makes sense about waiting for it to be an official campus, though it is literally one small building. But in any case, nice!!! I'm so excited!! Also excited to meet you! I'll be submitting my deposit this weekend. I feel like being that most ABSN programs are relatively new, there's going to be some disorganization, but I think we can make it through and succeed :) @JP0927 I remember the enrollment coordinator telling me that they don't have an exact deadline since admissions are pretty much rolling so just try to finish it asap! As for the personal statement, the lady I met with (Kelly) had told me to definitely talk about any healthcare experiences you have and how that has affect you in terms of pursuing a nursing degree. I also talked about why I wanted to be a nurse, giving a specific situation that led me to pursue nursing. I also talked about my personal, educational, and career goals and how CNR could help me achieve them. If you have specific questions, let me know! Hope that helps!
  7. @Charlie123 Hmmm I remember they said they had to reconstruct their curriculum and prove to the board that they are financially able to have their programs. It's making me uneasy though. Did you apply to the program already? @kikikegz I actually just switched to the New Rochelle campus since it's closer to my home. So @JP0927 maybe I'll be seeing you around campus in the summer!
  8. Hi @Heatherau! I had similar scores, though I have never taken the TEAS and I recently got accepted to an ABSN program. I think that having healthcare-related experience is really important when applying to accelerated programs since you won't have much time to gain experience during school before applying to jobs after the program/NCLEX. ABSN programs care greatly about your pre-req GPA so it seems like you would have a good chance getting into schools. I personally think you should try applying to ABSN programs if your goal is to obtain a BSN in the future. That way you save time with your education, but also be aware that these accelerated programs are very intense and require you to commit majority of your time to studying and preparation for classes/clinicals. I have heard some people say they're able to keep a part time job, but most people do not work during the program so that they can keep up with the work. In any case, it sounds grueling, but doable as long as you stay focused. Going the RN-BSN route also works for people, but it will be more years of schooling, but of course if you just want to be able to start working as a nurse that would still benefit you and you could always apply to the AAS programs as a "back up" to the ABSN route. Hope that helps. Best of luck to you!
  9. @kikikegz Congrats on officially getting accepted!! I was thinking the same thing - I sure hope they keep their accreditation.. that would be pretty bad, but I think it's because they're revising their curriculum? I'm skeptical about putting down my deposit about that. I've spoken with current students and alum and they say the program is pretty disorganized, but has overall been a good experience and has prepared them well. So I have hope. I'm still waiting to hear back from other schools, but I am strongly considering CNR. Also, thank you @JP0927 !! Best of luck to you! Did you apply to the Harlem cohort? Though I know that both cohorts take summer courses at the New Rochelle campus..
  10. Hopefully you'll get it soon!! Not sure yet bc I wanna find out about tuition and class schedule, but it's likely! What about you? Have you heard back from other schools, if you've applied to others?
  11. It tells you which program you're accepted to, CNR's FAFSA code if you're interested in financial aid, and info on how to submit the deposit which is due 2 weeks from the date of the letter!
  12. Oh nice! Congrats to you! You'll probably get the official letter in the mail soon in the case, which will have the program you were accepted to! I got the email yesterday and then found the official letter in the mail when I got home :)
  13. I applied to the Spring 2018 Harlem cohort, by the way!
  14. Hello! Just wanted to start this thread to see if anyone else has applied to CNR's ABSN program for the Spring or Summer 2018 start!
