Loosing hope
Thank you for the advice ! I totally agree with you about the zero feedback. It's beyond frustrating when you leave an interview thinking you did great and they thought something different. I would be ok if they didn't like me, but gave me feedback to learn from and go forward with. I agree with shadowing too, although it's not always possible, I think it's a good idea you would be a good fit. The experience I had did help in the interviews and I will forever be grateful for those experiences because molded me into the nurse I want to be. Thanks again !

Loosing hope
Thank you for the advice, I have used my connections at work as my references. Unfortunately, they don't hire nurses with just an associates degree. I plan on going back after some RN experience.

Loosing hope
I was broke from respiratory school and didn't have money to take my boards, so I went back to work as a CNA... totally irrelevant to this convo. So I should keep applying and be patient ...why didn't I think of that?

I am not talking about you in 1994 or international students, I'm talking about me. Sorry that you don't agree that prior experience counts, but I did have one recruiter say they specifically called me because of my prior experience. Please don't make me out to be a monster. There were two parts of the interview, the Human Resources part and the nurse manager part. They could've had me come in for the Human Resources part since I was in the parking lot. It would never fly if I was sick, they would think that as me not being interested. Let me make one thing clear, I don't need anyone on here to sit and cheer me on.. I simply came on here because it's a frustrating process and nothing in your post was worth my time ... it was negative and completely unnecessary.

Haha no my resume was fine and if I had things misspelled on this site, well that's fine with me.

Loosing hope
The first sentence was "I just passed my RN and I'm searching for a job." So although I didn't specific my past experience, I did not imply I had RN experience. I posted in the first year after licensure thread... anyways ... my references are stellar because I have professional healthcare references because healthcare experience does count and it is valuable. I won't have RN experience as a new grad and to be picky in a professional that's in need of nurses .. I gusss I was venting about the interview because it was unprofessional and a waste of my time and money that I don't have. After reading your posts regarding this all I can say is I will be thinking twice before posting again. Do I need you to sugar coat anything, nope ! I understand you need to wait your turn, put in the work and expect nothing.. I have worked hard and will continue to work hard. I understand it's not a "slam dunk" and don't worry .. I didn't write this to "make things go away."

Loosing hope
As stated in my op, I did just pass my nursing boards in the state of Massachusetts. I do not have RN experience, but I do have plenty of experience as a nursing assistant and unit secretary. I am sort of confused with your post too .. didn't make any sense and you didn't help at all and yes you can have a ton of acute care experience without being a nurse. Are nurses the only part of an interdisciplinary team ? Thanks!

Loosing hope
Good afternoon, I recently passed my RN boards and I'm currently searching for a job. I am in Massachusetts with my associates degree so basically it's about who you know at this point and lots of praying haha. I have a ton of experience including ICU, med/surg, oncology, emergency room and maternity. I also have a degree in respiratory therapy, no license though. I tell you all of this for advice or maybe to vent because I am getting no where with this job search. I am open to any job including long term, acute, home care, psych, you name it. I've been on a few interviews, some really good and some well not-so-much...but it's been extremely frustrating. I interview very well (do my research, dress appropriately, prepare for questions, ask questions) and I look at every interview as I will only get better! Either they ask me if I have a BSN(which I'm starting in January) or totally waste my time. I got a call yesterday at 8:30 am to reschedule for a 9 am Interview because the nurse manager called out sick. I live 45 mins away. I call to check in on my application and they just give me the generic answer or they just flat out reject me for no reason. I am constantly trying to remind myself to stay positive, but it is really hard. People in my class who have literally no healthcare experience are getting jobs in acute care! Like good for them, but what about the people who gained experience while in nursing school ? I may not have a 4.0 gpa, but I did get B's and I wouldn't change the experience I have for anything. Please just leave any advice or well wishes because I am loosing hope !!

Pearson Vue Trick "Facts"
I already answered this question. You said you didn't even have quick results in CA, so it doesn't really matter when the 48 hours is up ? So if you did live in a state with quick results, you would get them in 48 hours from when you finished so, Sunday, like I said in the original post.
-
30 extra questions
These questions are a special research section they give to random students. They don't count at all towards your NCLEX score. They are also optional. You can find all of this info on NCSBN.org or the page on Pearson that has all the appointment info.

Taking the NCLEX on a Friday
I took it last Friday and got my results on Sunday. It's 48 hours not business hours.

NCLEX - Round 2 .. not so good
I was just talking to someone about this the other day. Why are there so many resources? Believe me, I am all for different learning styles and people bring light to some subjects. I am just curious why they are so different? Shouldn't every book or resource say the same thing ... I had a hard time after I failed the first time because there's too many and which one works the best ? It's overwhelming and unnecessary and not to mention expensive. Sorry to rant í ½í¸ž

NCLEX - Round 2 .. not so good
Awww bummer I'm sorry. You will get it next time! I am from MA too and I was going to use tutors, Mary Jane Scott(in person) or The NCLEX tutor(online), I just didn't have the money and ran into car issues. I'm scared about taking it again, I used all the same materials you did ... how was your test ??

Retake Eligibility
This is what's wrong with this site. People like you trying to get a reaction out of people like me. You attack someone else so I attack back and I'm the bad guy. All set, you win.
-
Retake Eligibility
Oh I could say the same about you, you can give it but can't take, huh ? You said because it's been 10 years and you were unsuccessful? What makes her unsuccessful? You literally never said anything about a refresher course in your OP. You gave no guidance or direction. You stated you don't think it's a good idea, because health care has evolved??
-
Retake Eligibility
Yeah, I'm talking about ArmaniX who literally has pages of comments on this site (lonely) and comes onto a nclex thread after you are already an RN to tell this person that "she doesn't think it's a good idea" (Negative). Concerns are fine, there are ways to word it, but I see this all the time on this site where nurses don't even answer the question asked and just give their own nasty opinion ( that doesn't matter). The same person correlated the fact that if you don't pass the nclex then you wouldn't be a safe and competent nurse, so maybe rethink your life decisions and my point is that is not always correct seeing how I work with people who did pass the nclex, are 35+ years in their careers and are not safe and competent. So yeah meanmaryjane, I do think it's "salient." Concerns are always nice and everyone has their right to them, but why be like that when you don't have to be. Either answer the question or don't respond. Write your concerns to the NCSBN because they make up the rules, not you. Also, next time you work ask your colleagues how many times they took the nclex and if you find someone that didn't pass the first time, tell them they are unsafe and not competent at their jobs.

Retake Eligibility
I know nurses who have been in the field for 35+ years and are not safe and competent? Where in the original post did they ask you for your opinion. Why are there so many lonely negative nurses on this site, it's really sad.
-
I hope this helps those who took the nclex and waiting for results or will take it soon!
How was the test ?

RUN OUT OF TIME @ 245 questions
They look at the last 60 questions and if they are above the passing line or below. If you go on ncsbn.org they explain everything. Good luck

FINALLY I Passed my NCLEX-RN
This conversation is not even worth getting into, but I never said I bring my own beliefs into my patients care. I said what do you say to them when they bring religion into THEIR care. No one is "spouting" off religions beliefs. Usually you use therapeutic communication with a patient, it doesn't mean you agree with them. Bit of advice, if you don't agree with what someone says on allnurses.com, just move on, there's plenty of other threads where you can tell them what God should be focusing on.
