Haven't checked this post in awhile... anyone who was accepted figure out what they're going to do about housing yet? Anyone else looking for roommates ?

I'm not entirely sure, but from my understanding it will be two years full time and you take the NCLEX after you earn your MSN. So I wouldn't think you'd be working at all during those two years. You'd be taking classes to prepare for the NCLEX and to get the masters in those two years. The current curriculum is 1.5 years fulltime preparing for the NCLEX and then another 1.5 years part time to finish your masters while working as an RN.

Hi! As someone mentioned, it kind of depends on how picky you are. I heard people were having trouble a few years back, and that's the reason for the new curriculum. But the most recent years it seems they haven't had too much of a problem. I've contacted people from other years, and they said 1-2 months generally. If you're not picky and start looking, some people were able to find it right after the NCLEX. Really picky people maybe 3-6 months, but for the most part everyone was able to get a pretty good job.

Hi there! I am planning to apply to the 2018 Nurse corps scholarship. I had a question regarding the different tiers? I will be enrolled at WesternU in California in the Fall for their MSNE program. It's 3 years total - 1.5 years full time before taking the NCLEX, and then 1.5 years part-time distance learning while working as an RN before obtaining the master's. They have a in-house application for their recent alumni students for the post-master's FNP program, which I plan to do, that I've heard is almost an automatic acceptance right after graduation. Do you know what tier that would place me in? Also, how the scholarship/my chances might be affected if I'm in school part-time after the first 1.5 years? Thanks

The Dean came in at one point and told us we are loved and that they want us to bloom and shine ahah that was EAOD day though haha but they're nice

I believe so. You'll still have to apply, but it's an "in-house" application. And I think you may have a three month break from finishing in the summer to starting in August, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks for all your feedback! I'm just leaving it now. The day went pretty well I think. If anyone was concerned about the old curriculum... I think it may work out better for those who are interested in the FNP track. I've contacted people from previous cohorts (3 years ago) and they said majority were able to find a job within 1-2 months of taking the NCLEX. Just people who were picky about where they worked took 6 months to find one but everyone was still able. I think it also depends on the job outlook at the time, but it seems pretty possible to be able to find a position. With the current curriculum, you'll be able to get that year of experience during the MSNE program in order to apply for the FNP. So you can apply to the FNP right after the MSNE. That's my understanding at least.

Congratulations!!! I've reached out to some people who recently just graduated from the program and they said they enjoyed it and the education was good! Is there any more insight or advice you can give me for the EAOD? Mine is coming up next Wednesday and I'm pretty nervous.... I really want to get in!

Just out of curiosity... has anyone asked about deferring their application/acceptance for a year for the new curriculum?

Do you mind sharing your stats with me? I have been torn between PA and NP, but have always been interested in medicine. I have applied to a couple masters-entry programs and a BSN program, but am not sure what my chances are of getting into PA school. I have a low GPA, 3.16, at the University of Washington and a cumulative of about 3.25 with some other classes at community college. I struggled for awhile at UW, but for my last 1.5 years my grades improved. My general chem and bio grades were not so high (2.0-2.6), but my A&P and advanced sciences in the last year and a half were 3.7+. I have worked as a CNA for about a year and have some volunteering experience. Anyone have advice on how to become a better PA applicant?

Oh... that's what I thought you were saying but didn't think that was it. Well that kind of sucks (excuse my language). Have you applied elsewhere? That changes things a little bit.

Also, what was the writing sample?

I was wondering if it'd even be difficult finding one after graduation, competing with RNs with ADN/BSN (bc ultimately they would be paid less?). So after the 16 months you take the NCLEX, and the rest of the 8 months would be in school to finish your MSN? And in those 8 months, they suggest you work during that time? So two years total? Or would it be more than that...

I am only a CNA, but how many years of experience do people typically need to get into a PA program? I'm trying to figure out what my chances are of getting into a PA a program.. My undergrad gpa wasn't so great from UW (3.16), and about a combined gpa of 3.25. My grades in the intro chem and bio series were on the lower side, but my grades improved and I did really well in A&P. My experience consists of two years of volunteering at a hospital, volunteering back in high school, two years of CNA work at a SNF and almost a year as a medical scheduler. I'm looking to gain more experience, but my GPA I think holds me back a little. I recently got accepted into WesternU Masters Entry program but it's quite expensive. I'm also applying to UW's BSN program, but I'm still interested in the PA profession. Any thoughts?

Was the writing prompt stressful and how much weight did it have towards your acceptance? What did they ask you to write about? Is there anything else you can tell me from that day? I also got an invitation for the early acceptance opportunity day. I chose Feb 7 because I live in Washington and need time to prepare, but I'm very excited! I read elsewhere that it's like over a month long that they send emails so don't give up! Good luck to everyone.

I couldn't wait anymore and called, but got their voicemail... According to the admission director's VM, they are all out of the office until Jan. 8 for the holiday and will not resume with applications until they return. Hope that eases any anxiety you may have xP
