  1. Thanks for your ideas :) much appreciated!
  2. My final placement is almost up and I want to get something nice for my preceptor that's not too expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks :)
  3. Don't give up! It can be so challenging and I've been where you are trust me. Here's what I've learned: you're never going to be truly be comfortable as a nurse until you start working and gaining experience and it will take a bit. I'm still terrified of certain skills and forget steps and that's okay. Just review and give yourself credit for how far you've come, you deserve it.
  4. Thank-you :) This has made me feel better that I'm not alone in experiencing this.

  6. Hey everyone! So I am suppose to be graduating in December and will then write my NCLEX-RN. My final placements have not been what I was expecting. I thought I would be exposed to a lot of different skills and diagnosis however, I don't feel as I have seen or done a lot of skills or seen different diagnosis. I am quite worried because some things I have never done before and I am worried about looking stupid or incompetent when I am on my own.. or worse not having a clue what to do. Is this a normal feeling? Or has anyone been in a similar situation? Any tips to ease my transition and manage okay? Thanks :)

Just wondering if anyone feels this way also. I often fear talking about this because I find it embarrassing and makes me look dumb but I find that I work so hard to learn something and forget it so fast. I'll spend hours researching things and think I have it down pat and then see or read something at clinical a couple weeks later or what ever it may be and can't remember any of it. I took pharmacology and loved it and then I went a couple weeks without being in clinical and then started my placement and remembered seeing the drug names but couldn't remember what they were for or I was getting them confused. Another example is, I forget where smaller organs are in the body and have to look it up often. It seems a lot of nurses and nursing students around me get things so easily. Can anyone provide me any insight if they feel this way too or am I lone wolf in this matter ? Or if anyone has tips on how to learn something and keep it stored in my brain? Thank-you!
