Waiting for RN NCLEX results!!!
I wrote in November and the only advantage to paying the 10 bucks and seeing the results early is if you need to apply for a position. They only send you a pass or fail. There isn't a "real" mark. Anyway, I am sure you did well. I thought it was pretty straight forward. Let us know.

Concerned Fiancee of a Nurse
I can certainly understand your concern, especially with a new baby. I have moved around the hospital until I found exactly what I was looking for. I moved from Oncology to Medical Day unit to chemo day treatment to anticoagulation and now I do cancer research. I don't expext you to know what all of those are, but you can see the diversity. I have only been an RN for 5 years. This industry changes so fast and just ask your fiancee...it changes in a shift. Encourage her to MOVE around the hospital or to find a new one until she loves to wake up in the morning (or night) and go to work. All the best for '06

Bone Marrow Biopsy
We do our biopsies and aspirates in the clinic. The patient is not offered sedation at all. If they are opposed to the procedure they may take an Ativan . However, the procedure is done with a little local and offered Tylenol when the freezing starts to come out. Our patients tolerate the biopsies quite well.

Writing NCLEX in Jan
I just wrote the NCLEX -RN exam in november (passed). It was at pearson-vue testing centre. It was on computer and all multiple choice. I have been out of school for 5 years doing bone marrow transplant and I did not study other areas. I bought a book caled Kaplan NCLEX solutions. It teaches you how to read the questions so you know what it is they are asking. I found it was all I needed. I recommend doing the NCLEX to all nurses fresh out of school because the knowledge is fresh. Good luck. I'll check this post again incase you have any questions.

How do you fill your cup?
I was once asked at the end of a long day in a chemotherapy unit "How do you fill your cup at the end of the day?" I would love to hear how all of you revive the soul at the end of a giving shift, and come home to your families and loved ones (including pets) and continue to give some more. For most of us the day is not done at the end of 8 or 12 hours and it is really important to share with each other how to fill the cup back up!
