CSUS Sacramento State Fall 2018
You have to check your sac state Student Center online! Next to your account balance, on the right hand side you'll see a blue box labeled Enrollement Date where it says "You may begin enrolling for the Fall 2018 Regular Academic Session on ___" for example, mine is on June 5th.

What number? Because hopefully lots of people decline the offer since Sac State is their 2nd choice.

Like maybe the Pre-Entry Checklist or the Orientation website? Which isn't ready right now. We should be getting the orientation website link at the end of May.

Well well well, when they said after 5 pm, they sure did mean that...

That is so true! To fix the problem of retaking classes, they should implement a rule that you get deducted 5 points for a re-take. This is a rule in Sierra College for example. Even if you have a W and re-take that course, you are deducted 5 points!!!

I believe what you truely should be concerned about is the newly implemented GPA rule. Because students have been receiving points for economic and environmental disadvantage for many many semesters already, and the NCLEX passing rates are still amazing.

I agree that the new GPA calculation should be taken out entirely and returned with the original GPA rules. On the other hand, I applaud the School of Nursing for changing the Bilingual requirement eligibility. We all know that America is the most diverse country in the world, therefore having a readily available translator is always crucial in every hospital or clinic. I personally know of many job openings in the medical field that automatically give priority to bilingual speaking applicants. Now, the School of Nursing is reflecting the actual requirements you see in the real-world nursing positions. The chief reason for which a student is being awarded these points is so that the student can efficiently translate what the doctor is saying to a patient, who does not understand a word in English, in the midst of a medical emergency. In prior semesters I only wonder how many students got away with acquiring these points, but were actually not capable of translating whenever the need arose because the only thing they remember from taking their 3 years of a high school language class left them knowing how to say "Hi, my name is _____, how are you, and where is the nearest library?" Thankfully, you now have to pass an oral exam; a true test of proficiency in a second language.

Hello fellow applicant, did you basically say poor people are less intelligent? That's highly disrespectful and sterotypical of you.. I get the fact that the nursing program demands a lot of time and effort in order to pass, and in my experience, someone who grew up in a disadvantaged home is the one who will stop at NOTHING to achieve their goal. So making such drastic assumptions about NCLEX passing rates, which can't possibly be proven until you've seen results, is pretty immature. People with your point of view is honestly what keeps disadvantaged people in their poor state. If you think about it in a larger perspective, giving disadvantaged people slight advantages every now and then is what can ultimately help bring poor status groups out of their disadvantaged state and make them less dependent on government help, and so on.. So tell me what can be so wrong with that.. And also, there are so many private nursing schools readily available to anybody willing and able to apply. The only problem with that, is the fact that a disadvantaged person literally has no means of paying the price that is asked of them.. while a person with parents, who have a large income, have a drastically easier time taking that route of education. And believe me, I am saying all of this respectfully. Sometimes it helps to think from a different point of view to understand what others are going through.

If the SON knows they are really behind schedule, why doesn't Teri send out an email to all the applicants saying something along the lines of: "please hang in there, the preliminary statistics should be sent out by this/that date." It would not only put all of us at ease, but also save Teri the hundreds of emails right now from students asking about this email or an update. And of course I can't relate to Teri and how demanding her job is, all I'm trying to say is - it would be a win-win situation for all of us. All it takes is a couple words in an email..

CSUS Sacramento State Fall 2018
Also to not get confused, the second email (acceptance, waitlist, rejection) will come a few weeks after the "preliminary statistics" email. For example, Spring 2018 students got this 2nd email on November 27.

CSUS Sacramento State Fall 2018
So the first notification is this "preliminary statistics" email everyone is talking about, which is 2 weeks late now. It won't let you know any of your personal statistics at all, but what it will contain is how many students applied for 80 seats in the program. For example, it will say "we have received 400 applications for 80 seats in the nursing program" and then it will say how many points the last eligible person in the applicant pool has this semester. This is also known as the initial cut off score. It usually goes down because people will decline their admission because Sac State was their second option, also people that are above the cut off score may be disqualified for various reasons. Let's say in the worst-case-scenario, no student declines their admission and no one gets disqualified, then the cut off score will remain as it was initially. Then this email will give us an exact date and time when we will receive our acceptance email or rejection email, this is the email where we finally get an excel spread sheet of the points we earned. If you're waitlisted, this email will also finally let you know what # you are on the waitlist. Im also in the same boat, I'm really thinking this semester has a spike in the number of applicants. At this point, im guessing around 500 applicants or more. But who knows - we just have to wait a little longer and see.

We got it at 5:06 pm

You're welcome. The School of Nursing staff say they work extended hours to bring us this news. :)

CSUS Sac State Fall 2018
I think this Friday we should get an email where it states the initial cut off score and will also give us an exact date when the rejection emails & acceptance/waitlist emails will be sent out. Rejection emails are sent out much earlier than the acceptance and waitlist emails. And if we don't get this email on Friday (which is the last Friday of the 1st month after the application due date) then the School of Nursing is technically off schedule and need an additional week to complete the process, so we can expect for sure to get this email the next Friday.
