From the email I got they said it was the inaugural class so maybe that’s why they accepted so few students. Perhaps next year they will have more slots open for students. Don’t give up if this is your dream!!

I’m sorry to hear that. I also applied with a 4.0 but I had graduated from TTUHSC’s accelerated undergraduate program so I don’t know if that worked in my favor that I was already an alumni. I currently work as an ICU nurse and previously worked as an active duty combat medic in the Army. I saw on the interview signs up that only nine people interviewed. How did you find out that they only accepted five students?

I had a Zoom interview 3/6 for PMHNP also and saw that there were only nine total applicants signed up to interview. Got my acceptance email 3/26. It sounds like they did PMHNP early and FNP is in a slightly later timeline. If anyone else got into PMHNP I would love to connect! Good luck to everyone:)

Congratulations on your acceptance. I am a current student in San Antonio and I do have books available and live about an hour from Austin. I would advise waiting for the spring semester textbook list to come out to ensure that they do not changed the required text to an updated edition. We had 15 students get accepted in San Antonio for the current year. However, I hear they are trying to increase slots for next year

When I received my offer of admissions last year it was via email only with no formal letter. And everyone else is correct that I did receive my email on September 7th. I would imagine y'all would receive word by mid September. Good luck!

Interviews have already been sent out for the VBSN track and are occurring in the next few weeks. The deadline for supplemental interview items (essay, resume) has already passed. I would check your spam inbox and if you do not see anything call up to the school and see why you did not receive an interview.

If y'all saw my earlier post, I am currently halfway through the program to graduate at the end of this year. I know it is really nervous applying and waiting to hear back So hopefully the following dates help give you an idea of the time frame give or take several days. We had the same application deadline of July 15th last year. I got my interview invite via email on August 2nd. My interview was scheduled third week of August. I received my offer of admission September 7th via email. Not sure how many people are in each cohort, but I know we have about 120 students statewide across all the cohorts this year. Each site differs in how many students are in each cohort and they are constantly expanding and updating the program, so numbers may change for 2019. Hopefully this is helpful to y'all and good luck!

I scored an 87 overall on the TEAS and had a 4.0 science GPA and a 3.9 overall at the application deadline. If you meet the recommended GPA requirements though I imagine you will get an interview. It's really the interview that can be the turning factor for whether you get in. The faculty at San Antonio are amazing!

Good luck with your applications! I am actually currently in the San Antonio Cohort for 2018 and we just finished up the first semester. Alot of people say the first semester is the hardest, but it is just very busy. Clinicals are in fact one to two 12 hour shifts a week with a minimum of 225 hours per semester. There will also be more clinical hours required in addition to the 225 hours in the second and third semesters for specialty courses (Pediatric, community health, Labor, etc.) First semester starts with what they call "boot camp" which you attend every weekday 9-5 for two weeks. It is a crash course on nursing skills such as sterile procedures, IVs, and med administration. Then throughout the semester you have to go in for sim days, proctored exams, and study groups. You have one assigned clinical coach in one unit where you will conducting your 225 per semester for the entire year. Then you schedule your clinical shifts around the mandatory on-site days for exams, sim days, etc. I love the way this program is set-up with conducting your clinicals in one unit for the entire year (with the exception of specialty courses). You start working with nurses who recognize and trust that you can get the job done, thereby allowing you to experience and become more comfortable with more things. By the end of the year, you are expected to take a full patient load that is appropriate for that unit which really prepares you for taking your own patients once you graduate and become licensed.
