In our clinic, our NPs are salaried, but then make a certain amount per patient that they see over 10 daily.

Advice on best time to have a baby (please!)
Everyone's different, but work is infinitely easier than school for me. I'd do your RN, get pregnant, have the baby in your first year of work so you have insurance. You'll get a few years experience then get your masters when baby is preschool age. It all looks good on paper- but we're all different, and things don't always go as planned on paper. Good luck whatever you choose!

Orienting Without a License
Orientation before you're licensed may be more things like the endless computer orientation, getting acclimated to the facility and/or floor, or simply shadowing. There are lots of necessary orientation aspects of a new position that aren't specifically nursing. Get a clear idea of what she has in mind before you decide.

Family NP vs Pediatric NP vs Acute Care Pediatric NP
I know this is an old post, so not sure if you will see this, but just wondering if you did go the PNP route and what you think. I am in this dilemma now and vascilating. In my heart, though, I simply know I don't want to work in adult medicine. The only thing I would think about is OB, but I still prefer Peds, and do NOT want to do well child checks all day. Hope whatever you decided you are loving it!

RN to FNP
Hi, I know there are a million threads on RN to MSN/FNP routes, but I can't find the answer to my question. I've found various schools that offer the ADNto MSN or FNP. A couple of ones I'm interested in offer 3 or 4 focuses, like education, informatics, or leadership. If they don't offer a direct FNP focus, do I need to transfer to a different program after obtaining the MSN, or just pick a different school altogether? I hate to waste momey and time on classes specific to an aspect of nursing that I have no plans to pursue and could be taking NP-specific courses. Thanks!
