  1. I am so glad to have come across your post! I literally chose a career switch, a few days ago! I am prior military and just joined my honey in Texas last December. He has been here since Nov '15, so I am nervous about starting the program as I do not know how much longer he will be stationed here. Like you I have a B.S. in an unrelated field so I must go through all the pre-reqs as well. I will be a stay at home mom for the next two years at least as we are expecting, so this program seems the best. Where are you looking to take your pre-reqs?
  2. Hello All, So I recently made the leap to pursue a nursing degree. I say leap because up until about a few days ago I was certain I would be applying for my masters in Social Work - with a concentration in Mental health. But due to some issues, decided to take a different direction. With that being said, I am starting fresh; literally need the PRE-REQS since my B.S. in Criminology did not require all those science and math courses. Eventually I want to get into Mental Health! My goal is to take as many of the pre-reqs during a semester as I can, but I understand it is best to take it easy withe certain courses. My goal is to start up in October.... This what I am thinking for the first semester: Med Term Stats Chem I Ethics ----Would taking Micro be too much? Questions: *Is there a way to specialize in mental health or is that only possible upon graduating? *Coming from a completely different field, what is the best order of coursework for the pre-reqs? * What courses would be best to take concurrently and what courses would be advised to not take during same semester?
  3. I recently made the switch to go to school for nursing (hopefully mental health), so like you I was wondering if I could take pre-reqs online - also expecting so online format is just best currently. I moved to TX last December so I do not qualify for in-state tuition as of yet (prior mil trying to use my GI BILL). Which brought me to GMC (Georgia Mil College) in GA (last duty station area) they have a pre-nursing program and allow courses to be taken online. Like Shycat stated, I would suggest making sure the courses will transfer in. They will for my school in Texas. Next courses would start Oct 3! You do not need to be military and they do not charge out-of-state tuition
