Torn Between Two RN Residency Offers(SFL)
Congratulations, new grad! Nursing school is not a breeze. I am a retired nurse of 23 years at Joe DiMaggio. Personally, if I had to do it all over again, I would make the same decision. I don't know about the culture at Jackson so I cannot say if it's a better employer than Memorial. Now, I can say that my husband was a patient at Jackson and NEVER again! Patient care is not the best. When you witness your loved one with a O2 saturation in the 50s and nobody is rushing in, there's a problem. So many wrongs at this hospital. Memorial has a great culture. Sure, you might have a tough time adjusting being a new grad but, if you have a good mentor, it will help with the transition into your new role. Memorial has many mandatory inservices and modules to complete yearly. It might be annoying, but frankly other hospitals might have the same requirements. If you like working with Children, JDCH is a great place to be. Most nurses are super nice and helpful. Whichever one you choose, I hope you thrive and have a wonderful career. Good luck!

Unfair and unequal
I worked as a travel nurse back in 2000/2001. The worse assignments were typically given to travelers and we were the first ones to float. And, yes, sometimes I would float twice in one 12 hour shift. Clinical managers and/or charge nurses don't know if they can trust you. It takes a while before they do. Many healthcare systems treat travelers the same way. Frankly, it doesn't matter what you look like. All they know is that you are a travel nurse and they will not be overly welcoming until they know you better.

RN-BSN program for a Canadian nurse already working in the US
I had a course by course evaluation done by WES too. Many of my credits don't transfer because they are in French. I have to take so many courses. It's discouraging. I'm taking English Composition 1 right now. I need to take the TOEFL. Hopefully, after I'm done with English comp., I can get an exemption for the TOEFL. I will probably apply to WGU but I don't know how many credits will transfer. I have a long way to go.

RN-BSN program for a Canadian nurse already working in the US
I would like to know if anyone from Canada went back to school in the US fo an online RN-BSN program. I'm not sure where to start. Should I get a foreign credential evaluation done on my own first? Some schools in Florida require an AA as a prerequisite. I don't know which credits could possibly transfer. Also I went to nursing school in Quebec which complicates matters even more. I'm a licensed registered nurse in Florida and I've been working here for 17 years. I really don't want to be in school for 4 years at this point in my life. Any advice/suggestions?

Foreign educated nurse passed NCLEX first time
Do some research and choose a state where you would like to work. I moved to Florida a while ago but before I did, I applied for my nursing license through the Florida Board of Nursing and was then able to take the NCLEX. Being an international nurse, you will most likely have to go through CGFNS and obtain a visa. Also you might want to contact a reputable travel nursing agency like Cross Country TravCorps or American Mobile. Good luck!
