Clinical Educator or Risk Management? Which Would You Choose?
I am in a position to choose between the two roles. I work at a medium sized community hospital that was recently acquired by a major academic hospital system. Due to this acquisition, my current nurse educator role is being eliminated. This is because I am not dedicated to a department. I run New Nurse Orientation and oversee new grad nurses, and teach various professional development classes. I have the opportunity to move into a unit based clinical educator for three med/surg units and would eventually have a counterpart to share the workload with. I could do something completely different and go to risk management. I am torn because I feel like the med/surg role could have a huge impact on nursing and patient outcomes, although the administrator is known to be difficult to work with. Risk management is interesting to me because it also has the potential to impact patient outcomes. I feel like risk management could potentially offer more career options and advancement because it is a small department so I could easily move up when the director retires. Of course there is an if attached to that when. But, I though risk management could segue in legal nursing and potentially more opportunities that way. Does anyone have any input? I need guidance, please ?

New to HH: traditional vs Hospice
Thank you for your responses! Kaisu, what company do you work for? Berube, do you recommend any company that might be better? Where do you live? I live near St. Augustine, FL. How long has it been since you worked there? I'm curious about the cost of insurance and deductibles, etc. I really enjoyed the interview.

New to HH: traditional vs Hospice
Hi everyone! I am ready to make the change from acute care to home health for many reasons. I have an interview with a traditional hh company tomorrow and with hospice as a case manager the next day. I initially thought I only wanted to traditional but right now I am really leaning toward hospice. Does anyone have experience with both? The things I would like: -better pay the hospital (what should I expect? I live in Florida) -more flexibility than the hospital -1:1 care -caring for families if needed -great teamwork So, if you have experience with both can you please tell me your recommendation? In case I have to choose! Also, the hospice is Vitas and the other one is Kindred at Home. I have heard both are great companies.

Help choosing FNP school! Walden vs Bradley
I will ask the advisor about not having professors, but I know they specifically mentioned professors for some of the classes and being available to help. I am wondering if you have confused Bradley with another school?

Help choosing FNP school! Walden vs Bradley
Is Bradley a crappy school? I haven't been able to find anything that says it's not good. I have found good info so far. Walden has very mixed. I need RN to MSN so my choices are limited.

SIMMONS??!!
I did one semester there and I did not feel like it was worth the money. I did learn, but the webcam classroom was a joke and that is why I was willing to pay the price. The Patho professor had us do a powerpoint each week with a small group and then each group presented the material and she added anything that needed to be added but it could have been done using any online format.

Help choosing FNP school! Walden vs Bradley
I have gone round and round with my school choices. I started last fall at Simmons but my student loans didn't go through and now I owe them money (>$10,000) so I can't continue there. I want an RN to MSN program, this limits my options. I am currently accepted to Walden and set to start January, 7th. Now I found Bradley University and I am impressed with them so far but I haven't been able to find much online about them. The problem is they are quite a bit more expensive. Please help me decide! I know Walden has some questionable reviews. I have heard good and bad but I know that with any online program I will be self-teaching so that is ok. What I want to know is whether it is worth paying so much more to Bradley. Do I get anything more with them than what I would get at Walden?

West Coast University MSN student where are you
Thank you for the info. I am nervous about the 6 intensive weekends because I live in Florida and I am on a tight budget but my hospital provides 5250.00 a year in tuition reimbursement so I will save that for the trips to the west coast. Are you on facebook? I would love to keep in touch. Maybe we will end up in classes together. Actually, I should PM you :)

West Coast University MSN student where are you
I just talked to WCU today for the MSN generalist until I get my packet complete for FNP. Looking at 7/2/18 start date. Anyone have an info, advice or opinions on this school. If you are in the FNP program do you feel like you are getting a good education? Is doing this full time and working full time as a single woman with only a grown child to worry about? I am also set to start Walden's program 7/9 so I need to figure out which program is best. Thank you!

Walden University vs. Regis College
I have talked to nursing program people but I am not near either school
-
Walden University vs. Regis College
Thank you for your input! I just wish I could find more about Regis. The price of Regis is close to the same as Walden, which I keep thinking is odd since one is for profit and one is not. I have had discussions on facebood fnp pages from Walden grads who say they worked for their degree but I am still concerned. This is a big investment and a big decision!

Walden University vs. Regis College
I am currently deciding between these two schools. I have read good and bad about both but more information is available about Walden. I have read that Regis can be brutally difficult. I can deal with difficult, I expect FNP school to be hard. So, what it is boiling down to for me is the fact that Walden clinicals are in family practice, peds and women's health. Regis requires the same clinicals but allows the students to do 100 hours in a specialty of their choice. I don't know how important that might be. Any opinions on this and these schools in general?

Any online NP schools fInd preceptors for you?
BizzyBee, I'm excited to hear they found all your preceptors for you at Simmons. I completed my application this afternoon and I'm attending the webinar at 8pm. I really want to go to this school. It's pricey but seems so worth it for the exceptional pass rate, their online format, and the fact that they find preceptors!
