  1. Monsie86, Sounds great. Thanks for the comments about epidemiology. For this entire summer I searched for an online course or even an in-person course in epidemiology (at SoCal schools) but found nothing. UCLA extension was also a dead-end. For that reason, I assumed the same for UCB extension and didn't even bother to look. After hearing you completed the prerequisite there, I looked into it and found an available course. Thanks for that. It probably sounds trivial but I've been obsessing over the task of checking off each and every requirement; and in doing so sooner rather than later. That's one less thing to stress about, especially considering what all I have to do this upcoming semester. Besides that, I'm surprised there aren't more posts from people who intend to apply. Maybe they'll come as the application window nears. Even still, I really appreciate your comments. LOL... You could've just rode off into the sunset after receiving acceptance, but you've chosen to stick around to help us through the process. -Thanks
  2. piaondemand, Thanks for the post. I plan to attend the upcoming info session in August. So, I'm curious to know if you were more nervous before or after attending the info session?
  3. Monsie86, Great to hear from you again. I actually called admissions to ask about the post-master's certificate. They said it's something the School of Nursing is hoping to offer in the future. Here's another question. Did you take the epidemiology course prerequisite at UCLA this summer or did you already have that requirement completed? Anyway, I would love to hear all about how orientation went for you. That's if you have time.
  4. That sounds great. It must be so exciting to be three weeks away from starting… I've been reading last year's thread to get an idea on when people began to receive notification of acceptance, which has me a bit nervous. I really appreciate your feedback. I've been a bit frustrated at the lack of content (i.e. YouTube videos, etc.) from recent students enrolled in the UCLA MECN program. Hey, I have another question that you might be able to answer. I noticed a broken link on the UCLA website titled, Post-Master Certificate” (UCLA School of Nursing | Admission Requirements and Deadlines). I'm wondering if UCLA plans to offer certificate programs as an option for MECN students to become advanced practice nurses. Did they mention anything about this to you?
  5. Monsie86, Thanks so much for the advice. I have a quick question... What's the general breakdown of your cohort in terms of age, gender, et cetera?
  6. bayarea123, That sounds great. I hope you get all the information needed to improve your future application.
  7. Hello all, I'm preparing to apply to UCLA's Master's Entry Clinical Nurse (MECN) program, and so have decided to start a thread for others that planning to also apply and/or interested. Taking into consideration that admissions begin September 1, 2017 and end on November 1, 2017, this conversation will hopefully progress from now (the lead up) through the time of notification for acceptance/denial/waitlist (between February and April 2018). In the meantime, is anyone planning to attend any of the upcoming information sessions?
  8. Thanks for starting this thread. I'm preparing to apply for the UCLA MECN program as well. I've signed up to attend the August info session.
