Yes, if there are spaces after the first semester, they'll allow you to switch to days or evenings.

1. You must be CPR/BLS certified through the American heart association. They'll require that you upload a copy of your card to castlebranch. So definitely get that out of the way asap. 2. I think you can wait. I waited until about a week before; i wear xsmall though, so I didn't have a problem lol. 3. I got my second choice. Like I mentioned, I was accepted as an alternate though. 4. I don't think they need to be non porous or non slip. I come from the restaurant industry though, so I went ahead and spent a pretty penny and got a pair of danskos... I know the value of well made, non slip, easy to clean shoes. I've seen other people with porous type material and want to vomit thinking about the amount of bacteria that's been tracked in to their cars and home. I've wiped mine down with bleach several times. But at the end of the day, this is 100% your choice.

Good!!! I was number 12 and got in on the first alternate acceptance day. Supposedly they actually leave 10 spots open automatically for alternates, and for errors on the actual acceptance list (peachez1 can vouch for this, if I remember correctly). That castle branch todo list is a pain. My recommendation to all alternates is to at least go get CPR and BLS certified right now... it's pretty much the only thing you can do since you guys don't have the forms to do the other stuff. You're not going to have as much time as everyone else to complete that list, so at least get that out of the way. And remember, an alternate position doesn't mean you aren't good enough. It simply means you ARE good enough- there just aren't enough spaces right now for whatever reason.

Awe, absolutely! Another student posted frequently to my allnurses thread when I was applying, and it helped me out so much. I'll be here cheering all of you on when those acceptance letters go out, and reassuring everyone else that a denial isn't the end all be all. Good luck, everyone

At least for fall term, the clinical sites for level one were baycare Mortant plant rehab, health south rehab, menorah manor, northside hospital, and the VA. If you choose the VA, you'll do all your clinicals there except OB. I also really wanted countryside- I live in east lake and got put in health south. I'm driving two hours a day with traffic. It's miserable lol

Yeah- sorry guys, it's been a wild week lol Every hospital, textbook, google search and instructor is going to have slightly different values. Just know a general range. Google is fine. You just need to be able to look at something and know if it's wildly abnormal.

Your books for level 1 (and the skills kit) are going to cost around $1200. They sell them in a bundle at the spc hec bookstore. 11 are required, and they sell them as a bundle which is going to be your best deal... I tried doing them separately online through a bunch of different sites (some used, some new), it came out to being more that way so just bite the bullet, save yourself a headache, and buy them there. I've been told you use a lot of them throughout the program so I wouldn't rent anything. And for level one you really don't need to start reading early... if anything, I'd recommend memorizing as many normal lab values as possible. Just use these next two months to work as much as possible, save your money, and hang out with as many friends as you can.

SPC Spring 2018
Hi guys! I'm currently in the program- accepted as an alternate fall 2017 (so I'm half way though level 1). My program GPA was almost a 3.8. I think I was number 12 on the alternate list and everyone above me had the same GPA. It's a lottery for an alternate spot when that happens. Spring is notoriously easier to get in to and fall 2017 had more 4.0 students than ever in the history of this nursing program. So take a deep breath and don't let the fall students freak you out. Also, from my understanding, every single alternate was accepted spring 2017. This program is going to consume your life. I saved up as much money as I could so that I wouldn't have to work the first semester and it's the only reason I haven't lost my mind. I currently have an A, most of my classmates do not. If it's possible, I suggest doing whatever you can to at least take off the first semester just so you can adjust to the structure of this program. You'll be in lecture 23 hours a week- 4 days. The first half of the semester before clinicals is like nursing school boot camp. Like I said, I have an A. But I was reading and studying 30 hours a week on top of 23 hours of lecture. The first week is going to make your head spin, but I promise you'll adjust and it won't feel so overwhelming after you begin to get your footing. The reading is cut in half once you start clinicals. I'm here if anyone has any questions!

SPC students applying for fall 2017??
After speaking with several people in the HEC, a few of those forms won't be given to us until the first week of class (including ATI testing). So don't panic lol. We won't lose our seats just because they aren't done on August 1st. The three big ones that absolutely most be completed are the background check, drug test, and finger prints.

Okay so your schedule is not up, correct?! Just making sure I'm not the only one over here lost lol. Also some of the required forms on castlebranch are supposedly give to us at orientation (can anyone confirm this?). Kind of freaking out because I'm scheduled for orientation on August 8th. Which is after the due date.
