  1. Hello everyone. I graduated with my ADN last June & got my license in July. I didn’t have any luck landing a job in acute care (didn’t even get an interview) when I was looking for jobs last summer. I ended up landing a job at a blood donation place in September. I took this job with the idea that it’ll only be temporary until I can get into a hospital. It’s a pretty easy, low stress job but I'm already bored and it's only been 3 months. I still really want to get into acute care because I don’t want to lose the skills & knowledge I gained in nursing school and I don’t want to be stuck at this job for my entire career. I’ve applied to a few new grad programs & haven’t heard anything back yet & I’m worried that I will be excluded from these programs because hospitals will only want graduates with no RN experience. I understand I won’t get a call back for every single application I put in, but I also was under the impression that already having my license & certs & being enrolled for my BSN would make me somewhat of a more competitive applicant than the newer grads who still have those things pending. So my question is.. is it realistic to get hired in acute care as a new grad in my situation or am I wasting my time? Also, what other options/routes should I look into to eventually get into the acute care setting? I do want to keep my options open. I'd also like to add that I'm in the Inland Empire in California, so if anyone has insight on any hospitals/new grad programs in the area, please feel free to share. Thanks in advance!
  2. I was also accepted. However, I'm declining my spot since I accepted an offer from another school. Congrats & good luck to those who got in!
  3. Sorry, I forgot to add that I submitted a printed copy of my TEAS score from the ATI website. Every school is different though. For example, I also applied to RCC & they only accept electronic scores.
  4. We have yet to actually be accepted into the nursing program. More than likely, we all have been accepted as a pre nursing major. The only orientation we've had so far was the SOAR orientation but that included all incoming transfer students from every major. Is the TEAS test the only thing you're missing from your application? Have you asked them if they take scores electronically? If I'm not mistaken, they'll take your highest TEAS score. So I know it sucks to wait until the next application period, but it may be a blessing in disguise cause you have an opportunity to raise your score & increase your points.
  5. Has everyone purchased their clinical bag already? I just placed my order, but it's on backorder & I'm afraid I won't get it on time because it could take up to 8 weeks to ship.
  6. Yes. The alternate list is for scenarios where students give up their spot, fail to pass background or don't show up to mandatory orientation or first day of school, etc... also, I got accepted into RCCs program a few days ago so there definitely is hope if you're on an alternate list. I'm still waiting to hear from CSUSB before I make a decision on which school to attend.
  7. Okay, thanks. I just checked my email & I'm officially in the program! No longer an alternate
  8. Does anyone know where on campus intake will be held?
  9. Your stats look great too! Let's hope both of ours are good enough to get us a spot. Do you know if they have an alternate list? I also applied to RCC & I'm an alternate.
  10. Hello everyone. I wanted to start a thread for those of us who applied for Cal State San Bernardino's nursing program Fall 2017 cohort. We can share stats to get an idea of the applicant pool. I have a 3.9 prerequisite GPA & 87% on my teas. I attended the information session, have 1 letter of recommendation & I'm a Riverside county resident. What are your stats? It's been a long wait, but we're coming down to the wire & should be hearing back soon. Good luck to everyone!
  11. I just checked RCCs website & saw that they recently converted the emails. I'm guessing those of us who haven't received an email yet haven't converted so our letters are waiting for us when we do. I've been trying to reach out to the help desk & admissions & records to reset it but of course I'm not getting through to anyone. I'm stuck at work too, so it looks like I'm gonna have anxiety until tomorrow morning when I'm able to actually go to the office to change my login info.
  12. Anyone else not get an email? I'm trying to be patient but it's scary í ½í¸©
