Feeling like an incompetent nurse
It sounds unprofessional for a nurse to be yelling in front of others. If there's an issue, you should be spoken to in the correct way and environment. Also, it would be nice if staff were more committed to teamwork instead of throwing others under the bus. More experienced nurses have shared experiences of being new and these type of things happening to them when they first began. They did an article on the experienced nurse bullying in this years research. What is going to happen to health care once they retire. The patient comes first and new nurses that haven't had the experienced nurses knowledge passed down to them may be a problem for the field. Everyday is different, we must adjust, keep believing in yourself regardless and one day you will come in and everything will go smoothly. You never know, this could be her way of "helping you". Things have changed. We all have different experiences. I believe if we share these experiences; there will be more quality patient care. Why couldn't she handle the CNA issue? Doesn't responsibility go up the chain of command? It just sounds abrasive and unprofessional to yell and behave as described and being experienced, maybe it was okay at one time but it sounds like a thin line between authority and abuse. If I were manager of a floor and I knew that was happening and I waited and did that, it would come back on me. Also, think of the fact that everything improved for you so you are progressing. Use this experience to motivate you! Make it a challenge for anyone to find anything wrong..you're almost there! As mentioned stay positive don't let anyone else's attitude keep you from your goals. This will subside. Try to find a way to talk to yourself as you would a friend in this situation. What would you tell them if this were happening? I'm not in the situation so I can only go by what you stated and it sounds similar to the research the students did this year. There are many changes needed in the field and I hope that we can all collaborate to make positive changes for the best outcomes overall!

New Grad Qualification Question
OPTIONS: Add to your resume pending NCLEX exam, as the students were told to do this year locally. You usually receive a permit to work until your license arrive. Or just explain during interview because the way it is written to me sounds like "eligible to sit for licensure" and you are. Get your foot in the door with the interview and blow them away-they will hire you especially in VA. They are in great need!!! Don't worry yourself over this, it will probably end up being something you never needed to be concerned with. New graduates locally have been given jobs and they haven't taken their exam yet. You may get a lower starting pay -or not-until license or permit arrives, however, if that's what you really want: My motto is "There's always a way!"

Tools for the Freelance Writer
Thank you for the information. I've done Health Care Promotions as a spokesperson, model, and writer for a celebrity fitness guru with Fit Tv and other networks. This lead to many other opportunities as a writer and it was all health care related. Many articles were published in magazines and on the National Fitness Hall of Fame Website, and I gained a permanent position as a health/fitness writer for a magazine. I've found it difficult to squeeze the writing in these days, although it's one of my favorite things to do and share. It's amazing how much our stories and experiences help others. I suppose I got lucky because I was selected out of a huge group to go to Hawaii and do this fitness production-that's where it all began. Actually it was a thank you letter. Being grateful did pay off!

Passed NCLEX with 77 questions!
Great Information! Friends taking NCLEX asa pprwrk submitted because of the prep class taken at end-was required. Some say they are bummed about this because of jobs they already have waiting to start. Beginning nursing school I realized questions were "different" so I found a book called Critical Thinking and I recommend (while in school) (Test for Success) This discusses how the strategy of critical thinking works and correlates with the end of school prep class with the decision tree process. Once I learned the strategy plus studied the content I made honors society-just wanted to pass. Some students are preparing for NCLEX with Uworld. Thank you for the information. I will pass it on!
