Is all Med/Surg experience the same? (peds vs adult)
Hello everyone! I am in my last semester of an ADN program and I am giving more thought about what type of nursing jobs I want to apply for after getting licensed. I would love some feedback from anyone out there willing to give me some information/advice. I currently work as a Nurse Tech on a Med/Surg unit and I do not believe that it is for me long - term. However, to have the option to travel one day and to have a solid foundation I have been told by an overwhelming majority of nurses that I should be a Med/Surg nurse for at least a year. That is fine I don't mind doing that. I do have more interest in women's health and even pediatrics I believe I would be good at. I have been wondering if peds med/surg would be a similar enough experience and foundation to be able to say I have med/surg experience? Or is the adult world and peds world of med/surg too different to build that background I am looking for?

How does Informatics look right now? Master's vs experience?
Hello, I want to say first that I really appreciate all of the information I have found on this website posted by everyone who have taken the to share information. I have combed through the nursing informatics related information and I have some questions since many posts are dated from a few years back. How does this industry look right now? I appreciate all feedback, but I'd also love to hear perspectives from people living in Florida (especially in the Tampa Bay area). Is there still a good demand with strong potential for growth? Is this still a good time to pursue Informatics? Is experience still more powerful than a degree with no experience? Thanks for any input! :)

Considering MSN (Informatics) + NP (FNP), please give me opinions/input.
Hello tenjuna, I am interested in learning more about a point you made in your post where you said "an ADN or BSN is perfectly suitable to work in Informatics." As an ADN nurse, I could begin working in Informatics? How is that so? What would I need to do to get a position in Informatics? I understand that often the demand is state or region specific. I live in Tampa, Florida. I am very seriously considering a MSN in Informatics as long as the growth is strong. Especially how the industry is where I live because I am not planning to relocate once I have a degree. Any thoughts? Some of the information on this topics are a from a few years back so any latest knowledge, perspectives, and outlook would be most appreciated!!
