Thank you for your suggestion. I took it last week and I got a 94 overall and a 98 in the math! And yes I had so many bone and muscle questions!

I am applying to a RN program and taking the HESI A2 next week or the following. First time taking it. I need an 80 or higher composite score and I have to take all the sections except Physics. I have the Elsevier book (HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review 4th edition) and taking online practice tests. I also have pocket prep but I am hearing mixed feedback about it. Some say it helped, but some say the questions are nothing like the test especially A&P they said it was worthless as a study tool. For those of you who have taken it--Any suggestions on what helped most and/or what topics I should focus on?

@NuRhorizon They told me 25 was a good number to aim for but that "you never know, it always changes" line. Lol. It has been going up slightly in recent years, but that's only because they changed the point system. Also, lots of people with bachelors and masters degrees are applying to the program. So now that the new point system has been in effect, it will probably start to level off she said. So, she was saying even if you have 23 or 24 points, still apply. Because the ranges are usually around the 24-27. And they fluctuate. They can go up or down, so it is always worth applying. Are you applying to Belle Glade or Lake Worth ? Yeah I still haven't taken the HESI yet. I was gonna take it this week but I figured since I won't be able to retake it, I should study another week. I do like how it's just walk-in at Lake Worth and you don't have to schedule a date, but it also has made me procrastinate because I know I don't have to schedule an appointment and I keep delaying it lol

have you all taken the HESI yet? I still need to take it ugh. Gonna try and take it next week. What resources are most helpful to study for it? Totally cramming, but oh well ?

I know this is an old thread, but did any of you get into PBSC? I'm applying and trying to see where I stand. I haven't taken the HESI yet but if I were to get the lowest possible 80% cumulative, I would have 25.2 points. Does that sound like enough points?

Yeah I applied to the new part-time BSN at FAU at the Davie campus. Also thinking about applying to PBSC but that's just an Associates degree. Anyone know anything about the ASN program at PBSC? Someone told me it's a good program and a lot of hospitals in the area do like PBSC grads. Not sure if that's entirely true but I really don't know.

oh wow really? So the rest of the class lectures are online? That actually is a very good option! I have a 2 year old so the less I have to commute the better lol!

I am interested in applying here and I was curious to hear how it is. Is it difficult to find a job once completing the program and passing the NCLEX? I have a lot of people telling me to go straight for a ABSN (I already have a bachelors degree in another field), but I'm hesitant. I was in a ABSN program and I withdrew because of financial issues. It was also SO fast-paced and I have a toddler so I would really want to go for a regular paced program. For me, my goal is to just be able to become a RN and be able to get a job. I know I'll eventually have to get the BSN. I read on some other post that a lot of employers in the area like students from the ASN program at PBSC sometimes even more than ABSN students from other schools, because they find that PBSC students are better prepared to actually become nurses (more hands-on and have had more skills and training during the program rather than fast-paced ABSN programs that just bombard you with information). Is this true?

I never knew they had that before! That's SO annoying that they took that point away! Ugh that is actually relevant to nursing school too. Kinda surprised they would do that.

I was worried too, but I looked at the stats from the previous 2 classes accepted. Lowest accepted applicant for for Fall 2018 was 24.87 points and lowest for Spring 2019 was 24.67. Average applicant accepted was slightly above 25.44 for Fall 2018 and for Spring it was 25.35. I know every admission cycle is different but it seems like if you have a 25 or above you should be likely to get in. I haven't taken the HESI yet so I'll probably wait for the next admission cycle. Assuming I get the lowest possible 80 on the HESI, I'll have 25.13 points. Kinda borderline, so hopefully I can do better than 80 on the HESI if I study. **These are stats for the Lake Worth campus** Bell Glade avg is about a point lower.

I got my rejection letter last night lol. I would consider the part-time but the Davie campus is too far. I'm already like 45 min north of the Boca one.

Sometimes I feel like some FL state schools are less likely to accept current students for ABSN, which makes no sense to me but whatever. FIU is like this with their ABSN. My friend graduated there with a biology degree 3.9 overall GPA and was a TA and tutor. And had a 4.0 GPA in pre-reqs. Also like 90-something percentile in her TEAS. Not even an interview lol I don't get it.

Didn't get in It was a long shot for me though. Even though my pre-req GPA was 3.9, my undergrad was 3.3. Congrats to everyone who got selected.

Damn. Yeah after I posted this this morning I did some more searching and read that it can be in your urine for up to 4 days. Urine tests can pick up traces of like 0.001 mg! Luckily I already got into the school, so if I disclose my ADHD diagnosis I won't have to worry about it affecting my acceptance. Thanks for the heads up though. I'll def submit the note from my doctor before I take the urine test. Omg I can't imagine getting a call from the school telling me they found amphetamines in my urine haha. So many people take adderall though, so I feel like this would happen often

Also about interview invitations, I think it's 2 weeks after application deadline when they send acceptances. So for this admissions cycle, that would be March 29. And they just send an email to you.

I think they said around 80. And then from that group, roughly 40 or so are accepted. There is also a waitlist and she said in the past, people have been pretty courteous and that they will notify the school right away if they have decided on another program once acceptances are sent out. So that gives FAU the ability to then notify waitlist students and offer some more acceptances right away.

I have to take a drug test for nursing school. I am currently prescribed 20mg of adderall. Will this show up in a urine test? If so, how long before my urine test should I have it out of my system? FYI--It is real adderall prescribed from my doctor, not stuff I found online and purchased. Just throwing that out there because I have heard stuff that is purchased online can in fact contain other substances and may alter drug testing results.

I went to an info session. The lectures for the ABSN are not online. You have to physically go to lectures. That could change for some classes they said based on the availability of the professors but as of now they are all on the Boca campus. But, for clinical they try to place you in a hospital they are affiliated with close to where you live, which is really cool. So for example if you live in Jupiter and they are able to get clinical spots at Jupiter Medical Center, they will try and place you there in clinical as opposed to Boca Regional.

We both were curious about the format of the program like are the lectures online or do you have to physically be on campus for the lectures. A lot of ABSN programs have the lectures online and you only have to be physically present for labs and clinicals. I think that's why she was asking about working seeing if there's more flexibility.

I know this is an old thread, but as someone who was born and raised in NYC I wanted to give my input here... Yes NYC is easy to fall in love with when you *visit* (emphasis on the word "visit"), but it is quite another story living there. Unless you are from a city like San Francisco or equally as pricey, you will find NYC to be outrageously expensive. Just FYI--$22/hr in NYC is basically poverty. You cannot live on that. Unless you have parents or family members giving you additional money every month. Or have a 2nd job. A company I worked at they paid the admin $20/hour. She was from Ohio and also fell in love with the city when visiting. But it quickly became a rude awakening for her I became very close with her and she confessed to me that she worked at a strip club on the side 3 nights per week because the admin didn't pay enough to pay her bills to live in NYC (laugh all you want...but I'm being 100% serious. And her situation is not that uncommon). My studio in a walkup building was $1800/month. And that was considered a steal in a safe neighborhood. If you want a nice building with an elevator or doorman, you're gonna pay $2500-$3000 or more per month just for a studio. Yeah you can probably find stuff for around $1000 but it will be in an unsafe neighborhood or building....something not worth saving money on. When I got married, my husband and I moved into a 1 bedroom apartment in a luxury building in an OK neighborhood. We paid $3800 just for that. We now have a 3 bedroom house in Florida that cost $2800. $1000 less. for a HOUSE. just put that into perspective... Also--the people. Ha! my favorite part. It's very fast-paced and people are pretty rude and not friendly at all. Very cutthroat. I'm used to the NYC attitude because I grew up with it and it doesn't bother me. But for people who didn't grow up there, it's very frustrating. I knew people who moved up there from the South, midwest, etc. and they were so friendly and were really depressed dealing with the people in NYC. I live in Florida now and everyone here is so slow to me it seems lol but I realize it's because I grew up in an unrealistic environment that isn't reflective of the general population. I also find people here to be so much more friendly than NYC. But that's probably normal. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE my hometown. But I just feel the need to speak up and fully inform people who are unaware what it's really like in NYC. I've just seen too many people move there from place in the South like Florida, NC, etc and the midwest who had such a hard time and some who even became on the verge of homelessness because they truly didn't realize how expensive it was to live there. If you are still REALLY compelled to live in NYC, you can look in Queens or the Bronx. Or somewhere in Long Island. But the commute into Manhattan is a b*tch sometimes. I love the subways and busses because you don't have to worry about a car, but the delays can be horrible. (A car can cost $500-$1000/ month to park just FYI). And you have to really be careful because most of the neighborhoods in those boroughs are dangerous and not safe for a woman to live in (keep in mind, walking home at night....)

Did you end up going to FAU? I'm trying to decide between FAU and 2 others. Could you provide some feedback on the program? Like is there an option to watch the lectures online and/or are they pre-recorded? Or do you have to physically be on campus for all the lectures? Trying to figure out how many days I would actually need to be present on campus. Thank you so much!
