  1. does anyone know if theres a facebook group or something thats been started with all the people that are in the cohort? I think it would be cool to start one if we haven't yet! ?
  2. I actually don’t start til November! The smaller hospital offered me a tele position but the SD hospital gave me a PCU position ? i feel like hospitals in San Diego have such a loOoOng new grad process. I applied for the SD hospital in May and start in November ?
  3. In a crazy turn of events.... I ended up getting an interview for a new grad program in San Diego! But the plot twist was, the interview date was supposed to be the same day I was supposed to sign new hire paperwork for the smaller hospital!!! So I decided to take the risk, and retract my acceptance from the smaller hospital and basically put all my eggs in one basket with the SD hospital. I had two weeks to prep for the interview so I walked into the interview VERY nervous but also prepared. I ended up getting an offer a couple weeks after. I felt like me landing the interview at the SD hospital was kind of like a sign that I should wait it out! And I’m so glad I did ?
  4. If you're still waiting, maybe check the status on your portal too!! because mine updated after the first interview and just updated today to "verbal offer accepted"
  5. Just got a call with a job offer!!!
  6. you have to make a profile then search it up once you're logged in!
  7. I heard they're taking ~20 people for this cohort! I wonder how many they already hired since they did hold interviews the first week of august
  8. how'd the simulation go for everyone!?
  9. Someone told me you can’t really prepare for it. I was told that basically they’re gonna throw a scenario at you where you’re gonna have difficult people to deal with (not really sure if that’s gonna be the nurses, fam or pt) and how you’re gonna communicate with them. So I guess if you’re gonna prepare, try to think of which stuff you would prioritize in care and how to go about difficult people? Haha sorry idk if that’s much help. I’m nervous for it too!!!! Good luck! ?
  10. Congrats!!!! That’s so awesome!!! Is the simulation anything crazy? Crazy family? Patient codes and you have to revive them? Congrats again ?
  11. Hey there congrats on interviewing! It seems that they have extended the interviews. Did your interview consist of a lot of the typical behavioral questions? And did you experience the simulation? Hoping to get some insight on what to expect ? thanks in advance!
  12. Also got called for an interview! The two dates they gave me were next Wednesday or the Wednesday after ?
  13. @ldyer0516 thanks for the update!!!! @Alissa29 if you hear anything new pls keep us updated ?
  14. Wait wow this is NEWS!!! I’m internal and my app has been under review for awhile and haven’t gotten a rejection yet. I thought they already held interviews though?
  15. I just checked my status again and it says "others more competitive" ?
  16. I applied to surg/onc PCU and my status changed to referred to hiring department on 8/6! no Idea what the timeline is like but I submitted my surg/onc and BMT application on the same day and I know someone who interviewed for BMT last week ?
  17. Hi! The offer still stands with the hospital. I accepted however have not signed a contract with the hospital. I am still dealing everyday and constantly going back and forth. I’m truly stuck on my dream of working a big hospital with a higher acuity of patients ? still indecisive.
  18. @not.done.yet i have my BSN!
  19. Hi everyone! I'm in a little bit of a dilemma right now and I wanted to seek opinions from the minds on all nurses! To give you a bit of a background, I am a recent (5/2019) BSN graduate and just passed NCLEX. I am currently in San Diego, CA. Awhile ago I was offered a position to a new grad program from a smaller hospital not in San Diego, with a September start date. I have a good friend who works in this same hospital and unit I got offered a position on and she says she has had a good learning opportunity from the hospital. Being from San Diego, and working as a nursing assistant in one of the major San Diego hospitals, it's always been my dream to work at at least one of them. My end goal is in the ED so the exposure to higher acuity patients is something that is really appealing to me. However, multiple cohorts for new grad programs have passed, and for some reason I haven't even been able to land an interview. So my dilemma... should I accept this job at the smaller hospital, gain a couple years of experience (oh yeah, forgot to mention there's a 2 year contract), then pursue my dreams? OR should I pass on the job and continue to apply to more hospitals with hopes of at least landing an interview in the next round? (the next round of new grad apps open oct-nov for feb-march starts btw) I think the uncertainty of whether I'll even get a job or not is something that's making me lean towards accepting the position to the smaller hospital. Because at least with the smaller hospital position, I'd end up where I eventually want to be, but it's just a different route to get there. I'm definitely really torn at the moment and would love some insight from anyone! Thank you in advance.
  20. @Alissa29 I haven't heard anything yet... no phone call or change of status.
  21. Does anyone know if they're done calling for interviews?
  22. Congrats on the interview offer!! Do you mind me asking, are you internal/external and already have your license? I'm dying to hear something soon ?
  23. @NurseyTings for the entire program. this is what the email said: "Hello, This email is to let you know that all interviews slots for the new grad residency program have been filled. If anything becomes available, we will reach out for additional candidate. Please understand that due to the volume of candidates, we are not able to answer individual inquiries regarding availability. Thank you for your interest in Scripps!"
  24. just got an email from scripps saying all their interview slots have been filled.
  25. I emailed the recruiter for Sharp Chula Vista last week and she mentioned that managers will be looking at applications this week and interviews will be scheduled last week of July/First week of August ?
