How bad of an error do you think this is?
If I’m ever unclear about something, no matter how small or insignificant, I always ask for advice from my fellow nurses. If it’s related to an order, I always consult the doctor. Even if it’s a silly question and I know they’ll be annoyed if I call, I’d rather be certain and carry out a task correctly than uncertain and carry it out incorrectly. In this instance, it’s even helpful to talk to your patient. This patient had a tibial fracture - so they’re probably A&O to some degree. I would’ve simply asked them if the doc had a convo with them about why they cut the cast. While you shouldn’t take their word as guaranteed it could at least lead you in the right direction. Some people forget that just talking to/looking at their patient can offer them a wealth of information. You made a mistake, join the club. Bad news: you’ll make many more in your career as a nurse. Good news: you probably won’t make this same mistake twice. Just the fact that you’re even considering what you could have done differently tells me that you’re introspective and want to improve your skills. Both great things. Both you and your patient will be alright.

famu nursing program for fall 2017
Well apparently they are still doing calls. But even if FAMU doesn't work out, there are plenty of other nursing schools if you decide that nursing is ultimately your calling. Don't let anything stop you!

I hate to be that person but I feel like if you haven't heard anything yet, it's probably because you weren't admitted. I haven't recieved a call or email yet either; I actually was admitted and decided to enroll to a separate nursing school just in case, so I'm not too upset. Congrats to everyone who was accepted, and good luck to everyone else on their nursing journies!

famu nursing program for fall 2017
Hi fellow Fall 2017 applicants! I wish everyone the best of luck. I haven't heard anything thus far. I was going to call today but I ran out of time. I'm on the west coast so my 2pm is their 5pm! I haven't heard back from them since I was told they recieved my application, which I believe could possibly be a good thing. It may mean that we're still being considered. As for now, it's just a waiting game.
