  1. Thank you.. still sending out applications. Hoping to hear something soon.
  2. LOVE YOUR USER NAME!! ER not for me
  3. Do you think there is a skill difference working in vs out pt? Wondering if in-patient is a better place to learn d/t sicker pts or starting off slow and working my way up is better?
  4. If pay wasn't so terrible and I didn't have 65K in loans I absolutely would
  5. New grad, lookin to go into psych. Please don't try to dissuade me, I've heard it all 1000x. About to start applying but unsure which hospitals I should focus on. Which hospitals with psych units would you consider the top 5 in NYC?
  6. I'm a new grad (BSN) about to start looking for my first job. I'm only interested in psych, please don't try to dissuade me, I've heard it all 1000x. I was the only one in my class interested in psych and didn't receive any career advice. To be honest I'm pretty sure the only psych related advice I received was "don't go into psych". In med nursing the steps needed to hone your skills are pretty clear. Do a few years in medsurg then go on to desired unit. With psych the steps are not so clear. My dream job would be working with adolescents who have substance abuse issues. There are a lot of substance abuse job postings online right now but I'm worried if I go straight into substance abuse I'd be missing the "medsurg" of psych. Is there a particular psych unit a new grad should start in? I can tell you which are the most desirable hospitals for medsurg in NYC but with psych I'm at a loss. I'm not sure how accurate it is but I've heard NyPres is the best. Which hospitals would you consider top 5 in NYC? If there's anything else you think I should know or do to start my career on the best footing possible please let me know. Thanks everyone
  7. Clinical sites so far have been are Edgar, SI north&south, and Maimonides. It's about $60k- no financial aid but they give small grants ~1k a semester.. typical of all second degree programs. A little more than some but cheaper than others. Have classes/clinicals about 4 days a week. Figure 2 full days and 2 1/2 days Typical college semester length. Test schedules vary but you can pretty much count a test per week. Skipping a lucky week here and there. I don't remember two classes giving a test in the same week so far. You'll spend a lot of time studying it is not an easy program. I think the best thing about the program is that staff and other students all really want you to pass. It's a tremendous amount of material but everyone helps each other and we're getting through it.
  8. The subject was "15 month nursing"
  9. I'm in!!! Check your email. Didn't get letter to house yet only email
  10. Im hoping next round of letters are going out soon. I heard through non-faculty they send out lettters the first and second week of the month. I don't know how accurate that is. I just ran to mail box and nothing yet.
  11. The fact that I applied kind of late has me nervous. My gpa is high an my prerequisites are even higher. I scored an 84 on the teas but recommendation letters were pretty dry. I just hope I don't get wait listed because I applied so late. I've been anxiously checking the mail box everyday. Hopefully soon I'll know.
  12. Did you have your teas scores when you interviewed?
  13. Anyone heard back this week? I interviewed April 3rd and passed the teas on the 13th. I'm now super nervous reading that someone interviewed on the 2nd and received a letter three days letter.
