  1. The hospital I work at has won awards on care. About 6 months ago they relaxed the policy and allow visible tattoos now. Still, body piercings besides the ears and gauges are not allowed.
  2. File a report with the state. Patient abuse is not acceptable. You can do so anonymously.
  3. Um....no it is not legal for techs to administer medicine, assessments or taking orders from doctors.
  4. At the hospital I work at, the perimeters that are pretty much the same for everyone, including dialysis patients is call if over 170/100. Dialysis patients almost always have higher bp right before dialysis. That being said, the nephrologist's perimeters were kind of low.
  5. I would not put up with that. I would talk to charge and have him written up.
  6. I would say, RUN from this facility as fast as you can!!! Way too high of patient ratio for safe care, even if they are stable. I have worked in long term care and the ratios have been 1:16, and later 1:26. At that second ratio I ran for the hills!!! Too much stress!! I have worked in health care for the last 26 years, with the last ten as a RN. There are other jobs available for LPNs. The current hospital I work for has team nursing which includes LPNs. Good luck! Don't give up on the profession just because of one bad facility.
  7. I would be careful about working anywhere that makes you sign a contract. Nine times out of ten, the facilities that make you sign contracts have a hard time retaining staff. But out of the two offered, I would take the one that is offering higher pay.
