  1. I'm currently in AECP. It is an great opportunity to finish up your degree and have it payed for while you are still receiving full pay and benefits. I'm not sure that you can be "promised" the program. You have to have enough college credit to be able to complete your degree in two years and there is a pretty extensive packet that needs to be compiled and sent to a board in July. I think the board meets in August or September to select who will be admitted to the program. I'm not sure how your recruiter will be able to secure a spot for you without your paperwork going before the board. Also, you are supposed to have 3 years time in service before entering the program but I think it can be waived. Regardless of whether they promise you or not I still think you should go for it. It is an opportunity that is hard to beat. Make sure whatever they say is in writing on your contract when you enlist or there are no guarantees anything will happen. Good luck in whatever you choose to do. Feel free to post any other questions you have and I'll try to answer them.
  2. I am currently in the Army's AECP program (and loving it!) but I am concerned that the school I am at is not providing me with enough clinical experience. I would really love to find an internship type experience to suppliment my nursing education so I can "be all I can be" :chuckle! My school offers an internship as a course in the summer but it is 6 credits and would put me over my tuition cap. I'm an E4 with no extra cash to pay out of pocket for going over my tuition limit. Also, it would be great if I could find a paid experience (refer back to "I'm an E4 with no extra cash") but any experience I can get would be embraced with open arms. I know I could probably get a job in a CNA type position but I really want to make sure I work somewhere that is willing to teach me rather than just use me as a butt wiper/bed maker (not that I'm above that or not willing to do that, it's just that I would really like to learn more). I'm in Virginia Beach, VA. If any one has any ideas and/or contacts I would really appreciate it!
