  1. there are number of interesting discussion about nurses salary I went through. How much you get varies from place to place. But, still we look around for good salary. But if student like me spend around NZ$ 50,000 for three years course of course like to start with good package as new grad. Inspite of that majority of populatioin feels like we are getting much better. WHAT A JOKE mat.
  2. hi, i am a final year male nursing student. there are already wonderful advises to your question. but, being a male nurse after working as personal asstt. for 10 year, i personally feel nursing is much much better than working worthless. off course particularly nursing has developed an image of well paid profession. nursing is not all about what bucks u get or how you are wellcomed in the professiion, it is all about what you think +vely or -vely. it is all about your personal qualities, personality and qualification. it is all bout how you are trained and how you implement your training, how you adjust into the profession not how they adjust you, about how you handle ur fellow professionals and ur patients. i being a male really enjoy my work as an asstt. nurse and now final year nursing student than what i did before. if you have great sense of humour, great common sense, problem solving nature and finally a good heart. if your have. don't care who won't accept you, think how many will accept you, does't matter male or female. best of luck.
  3. It does'nt matter what you get. Question is overall satisfaction on or off shift. I know many nurses who moved from UK to NZ they were getting far more than what they get here but are much more satisfied. My girlfriend is RN here for more than 10 years, i am 2nd year Nursing student and work on weekend days never been able to buy a house but environment here is great always attracts me.
  4. You are lucky angela cos 53,700 p/a is good start as per jammybaby. It is embrassing what you left after tax. Moreover, if you don't have a house- your are renting I think you are left with a mere amount. New Grad. are going to start with 40000 in 2006. my girlfriend is a nurse for 10 years here and I am a student nurse year 2 and part time nurse aid, we never been able to have a house. That is why, I am planning to move to Australia or CA where we can earn a deserving salary and affort a house. Only I find this is a most beautiful country with beautiful people. Where do you work. Could you somebody tell me what we get in Australia and CA. cheers.
