I haven't had to so far. The nephrologist gives the sedation through the dialysis access. But I know we do have an order set for patients that have shellfish/iodine/dye allergies that includes solumedrol, so I guess if the patient has an allergy we would start an IV prior to the procedure. Your dialysis experience will be a big plus! My background is Telemetry, so I'm learning a lot of new stuff.

I accepted a job at a vascular access center, where nephrologists perform various interventions on dialysis accesses, and place and remove dialysis catheters. Anybody have any experience in this area? Just wondering what to expect. Thanks in advance
