Columbia State Community College Fall 2017 (students & advice)
CB87...I have a 3.7 (all my classes so far were taken outside of CSCC). I would recommend doing some ACT prep classes and either taking the ACT again or do the ACT risidual at CSCC). This will help boast your points especially with the new point system they are rolling out for the Fall 18 admissions. Best of luck.

Fall 2017 Motlow Nursing Program
You can take the ACT Residual test at CSCC's campus but it is still basically the ACT. Other than that, I do not know any additional test that can be taken to get into CSCC.

Fall 2017 Motlow Nursing Program
Lanna22...Columbia State does the ACT but will accept the SAT according to their site. I would recommend anyone not getting into Motlow of elsewhere to considered CSCC. It seems like it is less of a hassle and the waiting is not as bad. CSCC does admit in both Sping and Fall.

KPeeke...I would recommend taking the ACT again. Did you know that CSCC has the ACT residual that you can take there? I believe it's around $38 and it keeps you from taking it in a high school setting. Best of luck.

Do they accept the HESI? On their requirements, it says ACT but will accept SAT.

According to past post, most seem to suggest they send letters in the mail. It would be nice if emails went out though.

If there were more than 64 people who have 8s, I would assume they would base any ties off of GPA. When I spoke with the lady at the Columbia Campus, she said that if they go into the 5 category, they generally use GPA as a deciding factor.

KPeeke, I got the email too and saw it in the news as well. I'm just glad it wasn't the only place I applied. I feel bad for the students currently enrolled there.

VLeysath - If you don't get in, I would recommend doing some ACT prep. I took the ACT for the 1st time this past December...got a 19...not bad for never taking it and graduating in 99. I purchased the study prep courses through ACT and brought my score up to a 21 right before applications were due at CSCC. If I do not get into a program at NSCC or CSCC for this fall, I'll retake the ACT and reapply for the Spring at CSCC. I did get accepted into the BSN program at Aquinas but really do not want to pay the $22K/year to go.

You can get an idea of the point system for CSCC if you google Columbia State Community College Nursing Points. There are post in other allnurses post where people posted the points but not all of them are correct. Basically, the lady said I got 4 points for API since I got an A with 1 attempt (not sure if a second attempt gives the person 3 points). I got 2 points for the 21 on the ACT (I believe the points are: 20-1, 21-2, 23-3, and 24+ 4). People with a Bachelors get 1 point for that degree. I also applied at NSCC (currently taking classes there). I got a Proficient on the TEAS (that's the test they require). Proficient is equal to 10 points (20 is the most points in this section). They also calculate your GPA based on Math and Sciences only and you can get up to 40 points in that section. They if you get an interview, you can get up to 40 points based on how well you did your interview. Hope this helps.
