  1. I just find it hard to believe that she can only talk to you for 20 minutes a week. Honestly, it seems a little bit suspicious to me. What else is going on in her life right now? People make time for what they want to make time for. It seems off to me.
  2. Hi everyone, I graduate nursing school in May. I currently work as a nurse Extern and applied for an apprenticeship at the hospital, but have not heard anything back and none of the recruiters are responding to my e-mails. I applied for another residency at a different hospital to avoid "putting all my eggs in one basket" so to speak, and got a call today and am being interviewed tomorrow. I'm torn because I had my heart set on the apprenticeship for the hospital company I currently work for. I told my manager that I intended on staying there as a new nurse, but I don't want to bank on getting a position in the apprenticeship. I'm also torn because I feel guilty about telling my manager that I wanted to stay and then I may not be staying. Im interested in the place that is interviewing me tomorrow, which is why I applied. Should I accept a position if they offer me one tomorrow? Should I tell them I am considering other offers and that I will be in touch? I don't want to lose the opportunity. I am so confused!
  3. That's genius!!! Thanks! í ½í±
  4. Well no crap, captain obvious. Nobody ever said that people don't cath themselves at home. Of course it's clean technique when done at home. Sterile technique when done in the hospital. Patients are taught how to cath themselves. You are wanting to do it for practice, which is vastly different. We have established this, but it has NOTHING to do with your original question/attempt to start crap and be whiny and act like an entitled brat when you're told something you don't want to hear. You were asking if it were appropriate to practice on your partner. Everyone said not a good idea, you pitched a fit and started throwing out the insults. If you can't handle criticism or being told you're wrong, stay off the internet and become a hermit. Seriously. Also, you're a second semester nursing student. I'm a 4th semester, which means nothing. But you have got a LOT of nerve to come on a PUBLIC forum and talk to people with much more experience than you like they are inferior to you. You have a lot to learn and a lot of growing up to do. Good luck in the work force, and with future Google searches. Let us know when you grow up.
  5. This made me lol
  6. The one I learned was Oh Oh Oh, to taste and feel very green vegetables, ah heaven. Hahaha. I still remember the pneumonic but can't necessarily name all of the nerves right on the first try.
  7. Current situation: I can explain the reasoning behind not giving a fresh ACDF red foods/beverages. I can list the most important things when treating a sickle cell pt. or a pt. with burns. I can explain why insulin is a treatment for hyperkalemia. But... I can't list off all 12 cranial nerves without screwing it up because of the daggum three O's in the beginning. I learned the nerves and the pneumonic years ago. I am ready to graduate.
  8. Wow. Someone has a serious attitude problem. Get an externship and wait until you get more exposure in the field. I can't wait to see the rude awakening and attitude adjustment that you receive.
  9. Okay...so since you know it all, why exactly are you here?
  10. Ditto. They have open labs for a reason. Go in and practice. Please don't give your partner a UTI.
  11. There are no words.
  12. It honestly depends on who you ask. For me, it has been difficult and felt impossible at times. It also depends on the person and how organized they are, how their time management skills are, etc. Those things seem to make a huge difference in performance and stress level. I would also be careful about assuming that people in their early 20's are inexperienced or whiners - heck, I would be careful about making assumptions in general. It won't do you any favors. There is nothing worse than someone with an attitude of "I'm better than these 20-somethings!" or a 20-something with an attitude of "I'm better than these second career students!"...that's a guaranteed way to not have any friends. Make sure you don't emanate this attitude, and stay humble. You'll get through!
  13. Thanks for posting this. I've had the same questions myself when it comes to jobs.
  14. I'm only a nursing student, but... Mastery of proper hang hygiene. I think that covers 1-30.
