do you know the cost of the program?

Hey! yeah, I was accepted for Fall 2020. I have only gotten my acceptance email and have not heard anything after that. I am assuming they are really backed up with everything that's going on

I appreciate your response but I think I misspoke. When I said I have no doubt that I am capable of those responsibilities, I just meant that I am confident in myself that eventually, (not anytime in the near future), that I will someday be able to be a competent NP, if that's what I choose :) Since I am doing well and I am so passionate about nursing and have enjoyed my clinical experiences so much thus far, I look forward to immersing myself into every aspect of nursing and learning as much as I can! I am not in any rush to jump into being an NP - I look forward to being an RN and I think I'm going to love it, and hopefully NYU is preparing me well for those responsibilities. With NYU, they offer this dual-degree program, so unfortunately if I apply and get in, I'm required to work only a year as an RN, which I understand that many people think is not enough time. However, a positive is that once I enter the NP program, I'm also still working part-time.

I think I am going to just apply, and after I graduate, work as an RN and enjoy it and try to learn as much as possible :) I also think I'm leaning towards the acute care speciality. If I change my mind about pursuing the NP path and want to back out, I hope this isn't an issue with NYU or they don't make me put down some crazy deposit as soon as I'm accepted (if I am)... Also, good luck with the Mt Sinai position! I am actually going to be volunteering there!

I am currently in an accelerated ABSN program to become an RN and I'm interested in pursuing an acute care NP path. I would love to hear anything about this role, anyone's experience, if they like it, what you do, etc.

CLjucovic, thank you so much for your in-depth reply and for everyone else's as well. I really appreciate all of your advice. So the thing is that I'm currently in NYU's ABSN program, and they offer this dual-degree NP Path, which we need to apply to in our third sequence (crazy, I know), which is this summer for me. So I need to decide very soon if I want to pursue NP, and which speciality I want to go into. It's very stressful.... the deal is that if I get into the program, I am required to work as an RN for 1 year, then I go right back into school. That is why I am contemplating the idea of applying to this program, wondering if I will love the 1 year as working as an RN, but then feel ready to go back to school after that 1 year is over. I know as an NP, I have similar responsibilities to a doctor. I have no doubt that I am capable of handling those responsibilities. I just don't want to lose those meaningful interactions and close patient care that nurses have with patients. Do you have any additional advice?

djmatte, thank you for your reply. so you think it's definitely possible to do bedside as an NP? I think NP is definitely appealing, I just want to make sure it's right for me.

Hi, so I am currently in an accelerated BSN program to become an RN and I absolutely love it so far. My program offers a dual-degree NP path and I just was wondering if anyone could give me some advice to help me decide if I want to pursue it. So far I love everything about nursing and having patient contact, love bedside nursing and I have no complaints. I've spoken to people and read a bunch of blogs that say NPs love their jobs 100x more than RNs, better hours, more money, more autonomous, more respect, etc. But I am worried I will lose beside nursing if I pursue an NP. If I work as an NP, will I still be having a ton of direct patient contact? Will I be able to do bedside nursing, forming relationships with my patients? I know that NPs are often considered similar to doctors, but I still want to be a nurse at heart, and not lose what I've been enjoying doing so far. Does anyone have advice?

Do we know when classes start? or when we have to buy textbooks/uniforms?

I just accepted NYU and paid their deposit. Should I expect another email besides my receipt? Also, when do I receive instructions about my NYU email? Is there anything else I should be doing after I put the deposit down? Someone please help!!

FutNurseBB17, Thanks so much for the advice! That's crazy that we are both deciding between Regis v. NYU. Most of my friends are going to be in MA, so that's why the decision is so tough. NYU is also much more expensive and apartments would be as well. I would love to talk more about this if you would be willing to as well!

I just got accepted yesterday! I'm so happy! I am choosing between NYU and Regis in Weston, Ma... Does anyone have any insight as to what is a better/more prestigious program? I'm very conflicted. I love NYC, but Regis's cohort only has 48 students and I currently go to Holy Cross so I'm used to a very small academic environment. I know NYU's lectures will be 100+ students. NYU will also be more expensive when factoring in housing. There are a lot of pros and cons I have to think about.. Does anyone have any tips or advice?

NikNikV - Do you know if they told you it's acceptable to just have one outstanding prereq? Because I have more than one. I think they do not allow you to apply with more than a certain number of outstanding classes. An admissions counselor told me I needed to have at least x amount of classes completed in order to apply... which means I wouldn't be able to apply until the end of May. Also-what do you think of their all online classes?

NikNikV, I'm sorry if that sounded discouraging! I agree with you - I don't think they'd reach out/care about course descriptions if they weren't considering us for acceptance. I think that's a good point.... Fingers crossed!

They asked me for a course description too for one of my classes! But that was weeks ago..and still haven't heard back

I just called and they weren't very helpful...they said the latest anyone would hear back is June 15th and I asked if they typically send them out every Friday or if it's random, and he basically said it's random

still haven't heard and I applied back in January. getting really discouraged...hope to hear back today

do you think they'll send out more decisions on Monday?
