RN just completed probation. Can't find a job
I got a job! From hustling and going to that job fair at the end of March. I didn't want to jinx it and post anything until my background check cleared....which it did, yesterday. It's case management for a nationally known insurance company. I start this Monday. Blessings to you all. Since January I had sent out over 100 resumes and only had a handful of phone interviews. Going to a job fair and interviewing face to face is what made it happen for me. I will keep you all posted on my new role. Serenity Now! emod

RN just completed probation. Can't find a job
I'm headed out to a job fair this morning. I searched online and found a job fair for a large company in my area today. I have 20 copies of my resume and reference letters ready to go. Prayers and good thoughts please! Thank you ALL for your great advice and support. I'll keep you posted on how today goes. Emod

RN just completed probation. Can't find a job
That's great to hear, and so reassuring. I was a DON for years but then started a family and had trouble balancing young kids with the responsibilities of the job. But, the kids are older now and don't need mom as much as they used to. I'm going to look into management positions. Great idea! Also, I am NOT on the OIG exclusion list....thank goodness!

RN just completed probation. Can't find a job
Still no job offers....had 2 phone interviews which I thought went well, but no request for a face to face interview. I followed up with both recruiters via email (saying thank you) and then via phone. Feeling really bummed. I've applied for over 20 positions (insurance, senior center). Maybe my "good luck" has run out.

You are wonderful. Such a positive person. I really needed to read your post, and I'm going to keep reading it when I'm feeling low. I have not found a job yet, but did have an interview (phone) last week with an insurance company. They said it would be 2 weeks before I'm contacted to see if they want to schedule a face to face. I'm thinking about calling today to "check in." You have put a huge smile on my face!

Observed Urine Screens
After my first UDS (unobserved) came back with nitrates in it, I insisted all subsequent UDS's be observed. I did not want my case manager to think I was "adulterating" my specimen. It saved me ALOT of hassle since there was something funky going on with my body chemistry last summer, plus my UDS had to be shipped across the country (literally from one coast to the other). Not to mention the UDS was NOT overnighted....it was a UPS 2 business day delivery, so if I dropped on a Thursday afternoon, the lab wouldn't get it until Tuesday, and it was sent in a packing envelope, not refrigerated, in 100 degree heat.

Need advice, transgender nurse on probation
God bless you! Unbelievable what you've been through. You are a survivor and will thrive. This I know. I'm from the Midwest so I can't speak with confidence about the BON or job hunt in AZ, but I do know you will find the right job for you, and wherever YOU choose to work will be blessed to have you. Try LTC, hone health, clinics, doc office's for starters. Please keep us posted.

Lawyer Advice
Hi! I would definitely get a lawyer if you can swing it financially. Remember, the BON's primary focus is to protect the public. Best of luck! Please keep us posted í ½í±Ší ¼í¿¼

Saved my sanity
Just a massive, heartfelt, and genuine thank you to all of you! I have been working my program of recovery for what will be 11 years this June. I recently completed a 3 year probation with the BON and although my RN license is active, the past probation will always be attached to it. I have been looking for a new RN job since December (I have been working as a school nurse since 2013 and was told by admin that this would be my last year there because I do not have a BSN). Last Friday I got a call from one of the many places I've sent my resume to wanting to set up a phone interview (this Wednesday...keeping my fingers crossed). I am so fearful that because of the permanent "black mark" on my license no one will want to hire me. Your stories of experience, strength, and hope have helped me rally and stop this stinkin thinking. I am grateful to you all! â¤

RN just completed probation. Can't find a job
Good Morning! I am looking for some advice and reassurance, if possible. I am an RN with 23 years experience. I just successfully completed 3 years of probation for "failure to follow facility policy/procedure regarding medication destruction." I was working in home health when this happened. Probation started 9/2013 and I successfully petitioned to have my license returned to active status in 11/2016. I am starting to look for a new job and am worried that when potential employers see that I have been disciplined in the past, my resume will be thrown in the garbage. I am incredibly worried and depressed. Please, does anyone have any positive words or wisdom or stories they would be willing to share? Thanks fellow nurses!
