  1. I did not get one, but I asked and got an email today saying they all have not been sent out yet.
  2. @ RN,BSN,CCRN I didn't apply to TWU, but a couple of my friends did. I am still waiting to hear back from the University of Maryland. I went to a campus visit at Duke this weekend and was so impressed by the faculty and facility. I am going to apply even though my chances are slim to none. Everyone there seemed so talented and genuine, both staff and students. @ICUMAN I really appreciate your words of encouragement. In no way am I surrendering! I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else as a career at this point. I have been working towards this for 3 years. My gf who is also a nurse has been supporting me throughout this entire journey. She has wanted to pursue travel nursing since we graduated. Since then, three location moves have been made to care for higher acuity patients, transfer to CVICU, and finally to learn pediatric CVICU. As I mentioned earlier, I chose to stay in one city rather than travel because I needed to establish strong relationships with my potential recommenders. She has wanted to start travel nursing since we first graduated. She has waited on me this long, so if I am unsuccessful this year, I can most certainly begin to uphold my end of the compromise. Of course I will reapply in future cycles, I just will be doing so from somewhere new every 13 weeks with my honey :)
  3. A denial email or regular post mail? I haven't checked my mailbox in a while. But there can't be any good news in it at this point. I'm only applying to one more school. I was trying to stay put for my recommendation letters. If I don't get accepted this year then travel nursing it is.
  4. No, I haven't received one. But I'm assuming since I didn't get an acceptance, that's the only other alternative. I kept checking my email all day Friday. I was so disappointed, as I REALLY wanted this program! So sending notifications out on Friday does allow us to lick our wounds over the weekend lol.
  5. I'm going to visit on the 18th. I have been waiting on the application cycle to open for months! So excited!
  6. It might be helpful to attend a job fair in your area if available. That usually indicates that they have multiple staff openings and more likely to extend offers to new grads or nurses in different specialties.
  7. I do not have enough posts to reply to a PM. LSU requires a separate $100 supplemental fee in addition to the one for NursingCAS. I sent mine, but after you submit on CAS the school should email you to let you know if they have received it or not. Hope this helps. https://nursing.lsuhsc.edu/Forms/StudentAffairs/LSUHSC%20School%20of%20Nursing%20Supplemental%20Fee%20Form%20Graduate.pdf
  8. Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this post! I have been in hard study mode ever since my interview invitation! Before they begin do they introduce themselves so you know who you're interviewing with? Afterwards are we able to tour the campus? Do they give you any indication at the interview if they are still interested in you when you are finished?
  9. I got my interview call yesterday! I listened to the voicemail like 6 times I must admit. So excited and nervous!
  10. I applied also. I think the personal check is fine. That is what I sent too. When I inquired about my application, I was told everything was complete. I am taking that as my payment method was acceptable.
  11. I did Hurst and Kaplan while in school. I used the Kaplan method for test taking strategies when all else failed. However the book Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment by LaCharity was my main study tool after graduation. I passed the first time with 75 questions. My classmate failed her first time after taking the entire test, and after the book she passed the second time with 76 questions. I would suggest reading rationales since you might get some practice questions correctly, but for the wrong reason. Go over every single question, not just missed ones. That would help you to verify if your thinking is on the path they are looking for. If you pick an answer, also think why it is not the other three. That helps a bit with second guessing. Don't add anything else in the question when you are answering. Try to only focus on the info they provide. Absolutely no practice the night before and eat breakfast the morning of. You will be great next time!
  12. I needed several recommendations this year. I asked them in person first to gauge their reaction. You have to know if they are genuinely supportive of your goals, and I don't think that is easily conveyed through email. Of course they were, but you have to make sure! This is your future on the line. Then I gave them a two month deadline to complete them, which was actually one month before the school deadline. People (especially nurses) are super busy and things get delayed. Plan early for lost mail and/or computer glitches. Good luck!
  13. TCU is my number one school choice. I pray I get accepted this year! Did you apply to all three?
  14. I applied for 2018 start. Still waiting to hear back hopefully!
  15. A bird in the hand... I think it would be wise to accept at least one school while you are waiting to hear back. I agree that the deposits may play an important role. Also consider overall cost of admission for you to attend (out of state fees, stipends, hybrid programs that allow you to work part time, family support availability, area cost of living, etc.).
