I currently work for an insurance company as a case manager, I've been there about 4 months and honestly I hate it! I get to work from home two days a week and in the office two days a week. In my opinion it's more of a telemarketer job then it is nursing. You call "members" (not patients) but most of them don't know that you're going to be calling them, it's usually based off of claims, and you make sure that they're seeing their doctors regularly and taking their meds. We have a script to follow and you're supposed to make so many calls a day. Not at all what I thought it would be!

I also am an RN Case Manager in Georgia. The case manager (or care manager) usually works Monday to Friday 8 or 9ish to 5ish, and you have a set of patients that you see once a week (or more often if needed). The admissions nurse does the initial visit and educates the pt and family about hospice services. The triage nurse is usually one of the on call/after hours nurses that triages the calls coming in after hours. Usually one nurse answers the calls and one nurse is the "runner" who does the visits for emergent needs. As a case manager we see patients at home, ALFs, nursing homes, etc.

I have been doing hospice for almost two years now and have considered doing travel. I have researched it but can't decide whether to make the jump!

I was just wondering if there was anyone who went back to school for pharmacy? Or is considering it? I worked as a pharmacy tech for about 7 years- while I was in nursing school- and I I'm feeling like I really miss it some days. I considered pharmacy school but changed my mind once I got to organic chemistry. I've been nursing for a little over three years now and am thinking maybe I made the wrong career choice. Any advice?

Can I ask what travel agency or company you work with? I am looking to get into travel nursing, I've been doing hospice for a little over a year now.
