hi everybody
im just trying to kill some time before my test tomorrow (more like try to keep the nerves in check). i was looking through my notes and thought i might share some stuff with you all. i cant remember the exact sources (cuz i had so many) but i hope that it helps you all in your studies! (some of it is probably stuff u already know)!
priority levels of care:
1) ABCs
2) Sudden change in LOC
3) New onset vital sign changes
4) Unstable metabolic disorders OR Severe electrolyte abnormalities
5) Complaints of pain, especially post op (except for CHEST PAIN!!! chest pain is under ABCs)
6) Performance of complex treatments OR making referrals to other health care professionals
7)Family/significant other meeting OR Discharge teaching
prioritization in a disaster: TRIAGE
Trauma, Respiratory, ICP/Mental Status changes, An infection, GI, Elimination
rules of delegation: right task, right person, right time, right information, right supervision and right follow up
Patients rights: privacy, advance directive, refusal of treatment, freedom from restraint, informed consent
Documentation: CO ACTS
Confidential, Organized, Accurate, Complete, Timely, Subjective/objective data
hope this helped!

In your TRIAGE acronym, remember the ABCs, airway always comes first, not trauma in terms of disaster triage.
