preparing to apply for the nursing program

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on here for about a year. I'm getting my "ducks in a row" to formally apply to the nursing program at my school. I'm very fortunate to have a boyfriend who supports me in my career choice and has given me the time I need to get through school. He has made it possible for me to stop working as an LNA and focus on my classes.

I've completed my first year of pre-req's. I'm taking the TEAS test in September and am currently working through high school bio online. In the fall I'm taking statistics, ethical issues and A&P1. I'm nervous about my course load as I've heard horror stories about A&P.

Also my adviser retired and they have not replaced him yet so I was on my own as far as course selection went.

Any advice you have on the TEAS test or my upcoming classes would be most appreciated!

The TEAS has alot of math on it, and of course science, but all basic stuff that you will learn in BIO 101 and college algebra. The ENG was easy for me, the math and science not so much, even after BIO 101, 102, and A & P I and II. But I'm not particularly good at any of those subjects, at least I wasn't when I took the TEAS. The ENG saved my orifice on the TEAS and somehow I managed to get in nursing school and start in August. I took A & P I in the condensed summer session and it was brutal. I passed with a C. I took A & P II in a regular semester and got an A. I attribute that to it being a longer session and not as insane, as well as a better instructor and also myself being a better student and finally "getting" the sciences. I would say this: Spend extra time in lab if you can. Really learn muscles, bones, and the body systems. This is what you will need in A & P moving into nursing school. There are alot of online resources as well, some people on here will swear by youtube videos for A & P. Best of luck, you can do it!
