pre testing support

hey NCLEXers

So I studied harder than Ive ever studied before, doing more than 10,000 practice questions, with most in the last two weeks and reviewing both kaplan and saunders.

Ive gotten mid to upper seventies on the kaplan q trainers and 80s in saunders and 99% confidence with ATI...

I take the NCLEX this monday...

annnnd thennnn....

my boyfriend and I of two years, who has financially supported me when my financial aid ran out (two months ago), broke up. now we are both in the same house ignoring each other.

it sucks. and now on top of NCLEX stress, I have to worry about living arrangements, not having money for food or gas, etc.

siiiiiigh.

Im just looking for support here and words of encouragement because Im worried I will perform poorly with all this recent stress in my life.

I understand the distractions surrounding you right now. Although break-ups are terribly painful, look at this as a new step in your life. You are about to take the test for your future, and now your future is clear for you. When you go into the test just clear your mind. If you can, leave for your test early and take a slightly longer drive to get there. Let the drive help clear your mind, listen to your favorite song on the way, sing to it and just relax!

I also had a lot of stuff going on in my life when I took mine, which was only a few days ago.

When I sat for my test, I had just dropped my fiance off to work for a week, where I wouldn't get to see him, and to top that off, our cat ran away the same day, we are in the process of moving to a new city too.

I had to clear my mind the best I could, singing to music down the road was the best thing I was able to do, also I wore my favorite sweater and jeans that day and had my favorite breakfast before I took the test.

Also, if you can, try staying at a friends house the night before. That might help you relax a little more if you aren't around the source of your stress.

You are going to rock it out, so just breath and relax. Go into that test with your head up knowing you are awesomely able to pass this test, heck you made it through nursing school right?

Good Luck, you are going to do amazingly! :nurse:

thanks so much. tha tis exactly what I needed to hear. I was already planning to get there early but didnt think about how I should use that time to wind down and try to relax. Thanks for that idea and I will definitely try that.

thanks again :)

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about all that you're going through! I agree with the previous poster that you need to focus on your FUTURE...and that is what this test will give to you. Think of how much you have to look forward to, and the new path you are on which will lead you to many great opportunities! I take it on Weds, and am looking about the same as you with scores...although I've only done about 4,000-5,000 questions. Wow, 10,000! You've got this thing!! Can't wait to hear how it goes!! Good luck and Breathe!!!!!
