Pre-reqs at NVCC

Hey there fellow students! Anyone working on pre-reqs to (hopefully) take the Online RN program at NVCC Jan. 2015? I'm trying to build a support system and I'm down to my last pre-req, NAS 162. Let me know how you're doing so I can root you on too!

Hi. I just read your post. I recently moved into the area and haven't heard of NVCC online RN program. What's it about?

The accelerated online route doesn't take the summer off. The classroom portion is online and you meet for clinicals. It starts in January of each year. There are pre-reqs that are required first. It gives a breakdown on their site.

I checked it out. Looks like I only have to take microbiology. I'm a LPN now. Do you know if I can go this route or would I have to go the LPN-RN bridge program?

I feel like there must be a bridge or advance placement since you've already earned your LPN. I would definitely ask an advisor since NVCC would be more cost efficient vs. One of those online colleges like Excelsior.

NVCC has LPN to RN, you don't have to take Fundamental.

It is not online though, so you will have 3 semester to finish off. I don't know the specific requirement for that track.

Does anyone know how competitive NVCC's program is? I was also thinking about going to one of those quick RN programs but they're so expensive.

I hear different things about the competitiveness. People have told me some years more people than available slots have applied and those are the hardest years to get in. I chose the NAS route so I'd like to stick it out at NVCC, personally.

It depends on the number of application and the number of slots available. Last year, most people applied got in.

Thank you for your input hanoi98. I'd really like to apply this fall and have heard discouraging things.
