Pre-Req Bummers

Here's a doozie,

I'm doing my pre-reqs at a technical college to get into the Nursing program (ASN). I redid Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab... Twice ? with just a W... Sadly I'm taking these classes again and figured I might get a C in it. My school doesn't say that they look badly on withdraws... They just want a C or higher and a 2.5 GPA. Should I withdraw again or keep going? I figured I would have to make an A in all my other classes now which that's all what I have except in Anatomy 1 lecture and lab. Do I still have a chance to get into the nursing program with these two C's?

Hello,

I had to withdraw Before and it's okay. I'm not in nursing school (actually retaking two pre-reqs). I say if you don't feel confident in your grade withdraw and retake. But the thing is it's just my opinion I'd talk to an advisor. Another thing I'd do is make a list of the topics you didn't get for A&P and search for videos on those. As for chances I can't say because in my school there was actually a girl whom got in with a 2.75 but she had a very high test score. I don't know how things work in your school but I do wish you the best of luck.

Also some good Youtube videos to review are AnatomyGMC and WyzSci those helped me tremendously! And the thing is don't take it as you failing even though some people may treat it as such just learn and keep going! ❤️

It really depends on the school you are applying to. I had a similar situation and have multiple Ws on my transcript. There are some nursing programs that will count it and some that won't. Some I had to mark off my list of options just from that alone. Call the admission staff of the programs you are interested in and ASK them specifically if they have a max for attempts at a certain prerequisite.

I'd like to second the suggestion of calling and speaking to an advisor or admissions faculty for the nursing program. During the conversation, ask about their recent admissions statistics. They could give you some valuable information that will better define the grades you need to shoot for. For example: they may only require a C for Anatomy, but if most of the applicants made an A, you'll want to aim for a higher grade in order to be competitive. Also, if they require the HESI or TEAS, they may tell you what the average score was of the previous few cohorts.

Best of luck to you!
