Hi everyone,
Little background experience: 5 yrs as a MA at an urgent care and 1 yr as an ED Tech.
I am close to my last term of nursing school and wanted to know what Short Stay Unit is? I've done research but nothing that tells me the ins and outs of it. I did request for my practicum in the ED, but I would have to give up my spot for SSU due to the ED facility answer is still pending and that there's a possibility that they'll even say "No.” and my school said that I can't do my practicum in the same management. Even though one of my classmates was able to get placement at where they work from her manager. But will SSU help me/prepare me for wanting to be an ED nurse?

In my experience, the SSU is where postop patients stay who are not admitted inpatient but not going home the same day as surgery (aka "23 hour obs").
