Portage Learning

I just started Chem 108 through Portage 1 week and a half ago and plan to start either Anatomy I or Microbiology in a couple weeks to stagger. I just haven't decided which one to do next... I am in module 2 and have taken the module 1 exam and have taken 2 lab exams in the Chem 108 class. I am really enjoying the course and you can do as much or as little as you'd like to. My goal is to complete one module per week which would take me around 8 weeks. I would stagger the courses a bit. There is a lot of information and problems to work through. but one full day a week may work for you. It may be easy for you if you have a background in Chemistry or other sciences, but I don't. My goal is to get the best grades I can, so I am planning to take my time, if need be, but so far I am on track doing one module a week. I definitely recommend the program. The instructor is very attentive and gets back to you quickly with any questions or concerns. Sorry I don't have any experience with completed prerequisites but I think you can definitely do it in the time you are looking to do if you apply yourself! Good luck, Becky

I know this is an old post, but for those who come along later, here's some feedback on Portage Chemistry. I wanted to knock this course out in about six weeks too, but one day a week would not be NEARLY enough for me. Granted, I never took chemistry, and have been out of school for more than a couple of decades, but back in the day I was a pretty good student (graduated college with a 3.90) so if you wanted to knock it out in a day, you need to already understand the basics about how chemistry works, and better be really good at memorizing stuff. Use Quizlet flash cards - I have Module One all lined up for you (search for TxLPC). I had to spend a ton of time doing remedial stuff since I never took chemistry in high school (and back then they only had four elements - earth, air, fire, and water), so the next modules might be a lot easier, now that I've conquered the basics. If so, I'll try to come back and update this thread.

Hey TXLPC, I was hoping you could give me some insight on how the rest of the course went for you? I need to finish the course in about a month so any study materials or resources you might be able to provide would be very much appreciated.
