Hello, All

Can you help me find schools, online and brick & mortar, offering the PMHNP course of study in the Midwest area? This would be states like Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, maybe Arkansas, Tennessee.

For online schools, maybe it doesn't really matter where they're located?

I see St. Louis U, Rush, UMKC. Are there some others that you know of?

I'd appreciate your comments about these and other schools, such as the ease of finding preceptors, supportiveness of professors and staff, relevance of the required courses, costs, need to take off from full-time job, and anything else you think is important.

Also, I understand that by 2015, one will have to go the DNP route in order to have prescriptive privileges and maybe even to work as an APN at all. Anyone know this for sure? I guess maybe ANCC or state BON's would be able to inform me.

Nope, not true at all.

You can still get an MSN with PMHNP focus. Alverno College has brick and mortar (Milwaukee, WI) as well as UIC (Chicago).

Many colleges are going to strictly DNP programs but the MSN is still acceptable. Ten or 20 years from now, DNP may be required, but nothing is mandatory in the near future.
