PMHNP Program Admission Tips

Hunter College MSN PMHNP

Stony Brook University MSN PMHNP

Anyone applied here? Anyone has information?

I'm interested in these programs highly. My BSN GPA is low 3. Not much experience in psych nursing but I'm interested in PMHNP to work with psychic population.

Please help.

Thanks.

All were "in person" except the job I ended up with which started out as "in person" (I was literally going to live in a one bedroom of someone's else apartment on Air BnB for $1200.00 per month for the first year). Then Covid came along and they let me move home and work online. Once Covid "passes" and the Ryan Haight Act goes back in to effect I will travel to Washington once per month and stay a week to see schedule II medication clients as required by that bill (for the first visit and then advised on an annual basis).  The issue with precepting is that I only have one year's experience and most schools want 2 to three minimum. Also most will not take a telehealth preceptor.  I do plan to "build" a national company (starting with Western States) that offers NP's the "option" between either earning something like 75% 1099 or earning around 50 to 55% with full benefits.  My goal is to reduce the number of NP's seeing 25-30 patients per day five days per week and still only earning maybe 140K something I  saw frequently here in Florida where I did my clinicals. However, to do this I (and more importantly my OCD non ADHD PMHNP SO) will need to learn insurance billing and credentialing "inside and out"  first.

Thanks Myoglobin.  You encourage me so much.  Where these online or onsite jobs?  Have you ever considered precepting the next gen ?

Major Majoooor plus

Telemedicine is definitely the future.  Honest,ly is there any other NP field that we can work telemedicine almost >98% of the time?

@myoglobin

I see you haven't posted in over a year.    I signed up SPECIFICALLY to speak to you about PMHNP.

I have read your postings for several years and it inspired me to start PMHNP even in my "advanced stage" of my career.  Our backgrounds are almost exactly the same---and with this being a second career in healthcare, I am well aware of the realities and have ZERO illusions about what or how this new chapter will unfold----I simply would like to start a PRIVATE conversation with you about your experiences (BTW---I have pointed 2 other RNs to your postings and BOTH are now in PMHNP school with me---and we all love it. Thanks, TO YOU)  and how you navigate.

I can't PM you at this time, as I simply signed up in order to speak to you directly.  I would appreciate the opportunity to speak to you if you have the time.     stfsgt(dot)michael(dot)bonnett       @      gmail
