I am a 34 year old canadian male with a history in dual diagnosis and specialized care in Vancouvers downtown east side.... I am currently looking for all the info I can find on nursing courses in London England. I understand that there is a program at some of the hospitals where they will pay a portion or majority of tuitions in exchange for working at thier hospitals.... does anyone know anything about this...... I could realy use the help!

Cheers

Sorry never heard of it, but that doesnt mean that it is not happening. Get in touch with the Human Resources Dept at one of the big london hospitals like Guy's and St Thomas's http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/

the only problem I can see is that you will be classed as international and don't know if you would qualify for any type of dual work/course. Mostly these are provided by funding from a central fund and to qualify for the fund you have to work for the hospital and your manager OK for the course.

i.e where I work oll the major hospitals within the area of approx 50 miles plus community nursing pay into a central fund. A nurse can apply through their manager to attend a course and if relevant to area of work can apply for funding. If not relevant for area of work but the nurse still wants to do the course then the nurse is responsible for fees and study time although sometimes the employer will give some study time.

Try some of the hospitals but be prepared for the answer of no as a lot of training is now done in universities.

Best of luck

hi

I wouldnt hold your breath at the moment most trust are too skint to fund training, my particular trust is currently making us do mandatory training in our own time!!

Surely you're kidding! That MUST be illegal, do you have a union? If not get one! If its mandatory, they must pay, end of!

*** aside*** mind you, I've not been on manditory training, which is supposed to be yearly since I qualified over three years ago, they currently have a list of people to go on manditory training up, so I guess they are redressing this... on work time!
