Hello All :)
I am a New grad without a job living in southern CA. After countless applications I finally got a call back for a new grad program that is a half hour drive from my home. But before I get to excited I need to take a prescreening test, this is a situational/outcomes test, that is timed for 60 minutes. If I pass the test, then I am qualified for a panel interview. An interview is hard to come by these days, therefore I am really nervous,I dont know what to expect. My question is have any of you ever had to do this for a potenital interview? and if so what can I expect? How should I prepare myself? Thank you all! :redbeathe

I doubt you can prepare. That is the purpose of that type interview - to try to get to know the "real" you, not the one who interviews well. Smiling helps. Own up to your own deficiences and consider what resources you would contact if a need arise. Most questions center around "what would you do if...." Above all, do not blame instructors, ex's, former employers, etc for anything that went wrong in the past.

I never had to do it.
See if you can find out any more about it from the potential employer.
Good luck.

I am not sure but you may be shown a series of patient scenarios on a computer and asked how you would react to it: ie.
you walk in the room and patient is unresponsive etc-what do you do 1st?
or-- you have a patient presenting a certain series of labs ie BUN 65, creat 3.9, poor skin turgor, circles around eyes, dry mucous membranes etc---- what is likely dx-- interventions etc.
I had a test like this on a part time job a couple of years ago- they can gear them according to your experience level
whether you are a new grad, med surg, tele , ICU.
Or I may be totally off base , but they did give similar to the new grads as well.
Wish you alot of luck and future success, be yourself and be honest and open in the interview. Just my:twocents:
