Please Help!!!

This is my first post so hopefully it is in the right place. I have a question. I was taking my last Coreq (Microbiology) in the Fall term, I had to drop due to being in the hospital. I dropped on Oct 11th and then got my acceptance letter in the mail for the nursing program about 3 weeks later dated Oct 20th. This is a very competitive program 257 applied and 85 were accepted. I asked the academic advisor if I should notify the Nursing Director that I dropped she said No it doesnt matter. I let it go and started forking out the money to get ready for the upcoming term. My problem is while putting my course box together I found a sheet in there that I have to sign say have you met all the PREREQ and COREQ,s to remain in the program at this time. I dont know if I should show up un the first day or go to the nursing director. Microbiology is listed in the Program Sequence ( must be taken with NUR II) but most have to take it to get in.

Specializes in Trauma ICU, MICU/SICU.

If you had/have to sign a form saying you completed all co/pre-req's then go to the director and explain your situation.

Better to be honest about your situation. You'll find that in nursing the one unforgivable "error" is dishonesty. I'm not saying you're dishonest, just saying you don't want to appear to be dishonest.

Good luck!

Thanks! I am going today.

Thanks SUEMOM2KAY I talked to the Nursing Director today. She was hesitant at first but since I wasnt struggling with Micro when I dropped and my GPA is pretty good I can still start in Jan YEAH!!!!!:D

Specializes in ICU/PCU/Infusion.

What a HUGE relief!!! YAY!!

Congrats and good luck next semester!

Glad to hear it and glad that weight is off your shoulders.

Good luck in school!

Good for you! When I read your post, my first thought was, "uh oh...." In my program, they were extremely strict about having completed all of the required classes prior to starting. I'm glad you got by!

Thanks everyone. It is a huge relief. I am so happy I get to start. I am also nervous because I know it is going to be a tough program. Im in florida and my program placed first in NCLEX exams passing rates. I am married with 3 children and I also worry about the time I will be taking away from them. I was able to get through the pre/coreqs with minimal studying so they aren't used to me being away to study. I know it will be worth it in the end.
