Please Help Orientation Program

Sit back relax and hang on tight. Your first year will be difficult but EVERYONE faces the same things the first year. This is not a job that is learned overnight and EVERYONE on the fllor went thru the same thing thir first time out. MY best advice, and im not trying to be cruel here is : keep your eyes open, ask questions when in doubt, and listen and watch what the other experienced nurses are doing/saying and you will get it. It just takes time....................p..s. dont plan on getting out on time either especially during your first year.....

Thank you so much I will start my training on June 5. what topic in Nursing should I need to focus first? Procedures like IV's, ECG etc.? Documentation, Pharmacology? I am very anxious and I don't know what will I study before June 5. Thank you so much and God Bless You!

So you're starting on Monday? Congratulations.My advice, spend the weekend with your family, relax if you can and go to work on Monday feeling rested. If you must study go over a patient assessment. It's your first year and no one should be expecting you to know everything. Try to get the most put of your orientation by taking advantage of every learning opportunity. Take time out for yourself and your baby too. It's hard at first but with a good babysitter and some juggling you can do it. Good luck

I totally agree with DONN,, also i might add,, make sure you have a good reliable sitter that isnt going to kick a stink because you dont get off work exactly when you are "supposed" to. Make sure they know there may be days you might be as much as an hour late. Nursing is never a sure thing and you may not be able to run off to home right at the end of your shift if you are in the middle of something or need to finish documentation.
