With the upsurge of STD's that county health departments are dealing with they should have a wealth of information you could use. Try calling them.

when i'm looking up information on diseases i start with a number of sites. these are the primary ones:
medline plus http://www.medlineplus.gov/
health a to z http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/atoz/dc/index.jsp
vanderbilt patient education http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/learning-center/publist.html
these are all aimed at the patient. the reason they are good to use is because they present material in a way that patients, hopefully, can understand, and, are organized in an understanding way. both are necessary to any paper or presentation. it's then up to the creator of the project to make it as complicated or easy as they desire. medline plus will give you lists of links to more information on the internet which will save you from having to do google searches. another site i use a lot is family practice.com. it gives information about signs/symptoms, diagnostic testing and treatment from the physician's prospective for many, many diseases and conditions. there are also links there to patient teaching tools, but you have to find them. web md is another site that others like to use, but you have to register to get into many of their articles.
the list you have posted is extremely broad. you will need to pick one specific cancer, one specific eye disorder, one specific type of kidney failure, for example for this paper/poster presentation. others such as inflammation, infection and healing (this would be wound healing), shock, hypertension, stress, and pain while broad have an element of pathophysiology to them (in my estimation) that you have to explain along with the treatment of these conditions. i have links to information for many of these things.
is any particular thing on the list kind of calling to you?
