hello...i am in my second semster of the r.n. program and i am scared that i might not pass...i made a 71 on the first test and a 65 on the second test...we have 2 more test and the final....so here is my question...

i need to know where i can find a nclex book with nothing but questions broken down by sections so i can get a feel of how the questions will be on that certain subject we are covering when i take an exam.

we are studying diabetes, and the respiratory function right now...

also any advise is appreciated!

You need to immediately make an appointment with your instructor to get to the bottom of your poor performance before it is too late. S/he is the best person to help you to find out what you are doing wrong and how you can change your study behavior to become successful. Good luck and don't give up.

Sorry to hear your having problems. Most books have a website where you can get sample NCLEX questions. Also I use a book called Master the NCLEX-PN. It is broken down into sections and has lots of sample questions. The NCLEX-RN wasn't as geared to 2nd semester. You may just be studying wrong. I agree with the above posting, visit your instructors they can help suggest some study tips. Good luck.

thank you for that advise...what i don't unserstand is i am doing everything i have done in the first semester...in my first semester my first test was a 66.67, 66.67, so then i went and spoke to the Rentention Specialist and then i made a, 93.4, 88, 85...and then the final which i made a 82...so i don't know what i can do different...i know for one thing we are starting to do our test on computers this semseter and everytime we go in there we have some kind of "glitch" in the computer and after we start we have to stop while they fix it...we didn't get to start again until 25 minutes later and on top of that my stress level is already high i don't need anything else to help me in that area...i study everyday for 2 hrs...i just don't understand what my problem is!

What textbooks are you using and do you have an outline that is provided with your class with objectives?

"med surgical nursing"...for this lecture and "maternal-child nursing"...and no they don't provide an outline...

Perhaps you could consider adding a third hour each day. Get up one hour early and study. But make this a review of what your covered the night before. If you made notes or flashcards, go over them for one hour each morning when your brain is rested. My daughter was an A student in school when she wanted to be. She swears by flashcards. She has been using this method for study since she was in high school and it worked for her.

THANK YOU!

I forgot to add that you can make your own flashcards from your text and from your lecture notes. But an excellent resource for nursing flashcards is http://www.flashcardexchange.com. For a one time fee of about $20 you can become a member and can download the cards you need. I just copy from the site onto my cards by hand. Wait til you see what they have for nursing!
