Have your friends actually checked the website for California BON and see if they are listed there? hey will usually be listed before they get the actual physical license in their hands.

Hi everyone,
I would like to find an answer.Why the BON in California is so long to answer by mail to all candidates who took the NCLEX exam?Actually,I have two friends,they took the NCLEX ,one the 31st March,the other 6th April,both are still waitting for their result by mail!What does it mean?Do you have any explanation about the delay....?When you passed the NCLEX,the result is supposed to be delivered quickly or you can wait for 4 weeks?Thanks a lot to answer me.Good luck to everybody!

It's kind of you to answer me so quickly,but my friends don't have social security number or digit number because they are foreign graduated and they actually don't work.So,they can't verify by this way.I think they just have to wait and pray to pass,I tried to reassure them and to tell them that it can last 4 to 6 weeks to obtain the result....,but I think that you should expect earlier your result when you passed the NCLEX,it might not be a good news ......I don't know .....it's not fair ....if they failed their exam why should they wait for long time to have a bad news!!Thank you for your good advice.

I am sorry that they are having to wait so long. This website http://www.rn.ca.gov doesn't require you to put in a social security number or anything. It will ask for a last name and first name. Anyone can view this information. It is mainly to check and see if you have an RN license(If you pass NCLEX you will have the license). California is having financial problems, so I am sure that the BON has less employees now due to that. With less employees, results will take longer to obtain. Sorry about that!

Thank you again.They tried to check as you said but it didn't work or maybe they failed because they didn't see their license number.We never know....one of my friend was like them,nearly in the same situation,she couldn't see the license number when she checked on the BON,but she received her answer 3 weeks later and she passed.She called the toll free number and they gave her the explanation: she didn't have any SSN or ITTN because she was foreign,they gave her a temporary license until she finds a position in one hospital and obtain a SSN.It seems to be very complicated for foreign graduated when you don't have SSN or ITTN.Anyway,I understand and thank you for your comprehension ....but you know my friends are so frustrated,they imagine they failed but we never know......!Good luck!

I wanted to give you some news about my friends,one has passed the NCLEX -RN after 75 questions and she has just received her result today by mail after 4 weeks.Unfortunately,the other friend has failed ....Thank you very much guys for your concerns and good luck !

Wow that is a long time! I remember it only took 10 days maybe they are backed up or something. you can go under ca brn and see if you passed by putting your name there it.

In California, they will not issue a nursing license without having a social security number. Their name will not show up on the listing with the CA BON until they do. California will not endorse for another state until they have the SSN#, as they do not actually issue them a number until then. what they recieve is a letter telling them that they have met all of the requirements for licnesure, and as soon as they have the SSN#, then it will be issued. If it is not taken careof within two years, then they have to begin the paperwork all over again with CA.
