PICU

Realistically - is a PICU even appropriate experience for CRNA school? Also I had a question (noticed on another thread) regarding science curriculum. I took a full complement of preoptometry courses like 1 yr of Physics, 1 yr Inorganic Chem, Bio, Calculus and Trig etc on top of the normal nursing curriculum Micro, AP, Nutrition etc....will this be any advantage? I have around a 3.5 in the prereqs. Just to temper expectations, as I know someone in CRNA school, I am not even considering applying to programs until I have 2 yrs of critical care, CCRN, ACLS, PAL etc and serious recommendations. I have 9 months left of RN school now, and have a clear path to a PICU - however I don't know if most schools will want this experience.

Any science courses that you did well in will look good on your application. I think most schools will want you to have a semester of organic chemistry too.

No doubt schools prefer adult icu's over picu, but if that is where you want to be for now, or you can't find an opening with adults, people do get accepted with just picu experience
