Picc Lines

Hi I am an LPN in the state of louisiana. We are waiting for the state board to call us back concerning the following question. Does anyone know the correct answer and where i can get proof of it?

Can LPN's administer medication/flushes through a PICC line that is already accessed in one of our nursing home residents?

My facility did OTJ training for us to push meds through our picc liners. We always did the flushes, but just now got permission from the state of MI to push ms, etc.

Hope this helps.

It depends on the state that you are in.

Also, jOhnson4, I noticed this is your first post. Congrats!! However, I would like to make one small request...to post a little introduction of yourself in the Introduction and Greetings forum in order for us to greet you properly. We members like to know who has joined our ranks.

Thanks
