Philly Area LTCF's

I'm a recent LPN grad with very little experience. I've been sending my resume out to every facility that has a website. I was wondering if anyone knew of any facilities that may be hiring. I'm willing to commute to the suburbs if necessary, I just really need a job.

I'm wondering the same thing! I've applied to lots of LTC facilities that are listed on websites.. but I just wish I had a little more direction. If someone knew specifically a place hiring new grads, it would be great. Have my RN and BSN. Anyone have any tips?

Things are tough for nurses - especially new nurses - in this neck of the woods.

Fair Acres, the LTC operated by Delaware County had several openings (RNs and LPNs) posted when I checked their web site a week or so ago. Unfortunately they require 2 to 3 years of LTC experience and will not consider new grads. That's the same story for all of the LTCs that I contacted (about 6): No new nurses, experienced only.

I think that the most promising route for new nursing grads is to apply for tech or housekeeping jobs, work for 6 to 12 months to establish yourself as a good employee and then ask to be considered for nursing openings. I've sent applications and resumes for RN positions to about 12 hospitals and 6 nursing homes with no response. I recently applied for a PCT position at one of the hospitals and got a call back about the job a week later, so I think I may be on to something with this strategy. I know it sounds demeaning but it may be the only way to actually land a nursing job these days.
